Lounge access for minor travelling alone (HKG and LHR)

Does anyone know whether the Cathay lounges (or failing that any other Oneworld lounges) at HKG and LHR T3 allow a minor travelling alone to enter?

For clarification, this would be a minor with Emerald status travelling alone, not whilst using the Unaccompanied Minor service.

Thanks!

There should be no problem. (Most, if not all?) Alcohol is served from a bar at CX lounges so there isn't that issue which is the case at BA lounges. Nevertheless, when I was under 18, I never had any issue with getting into most lounges. The only time I got denied was once by BA at JFK T7 for being under 21.

Thank you - that's useful to know. BA doesn't accept minors travelling alone for the reason (self-service alcohol). Though now to come to think of it, isn't the bubbly in the champagne area of CX Wing First at HKG self-service?

CX lounges in HKG have self-serve cans of beer. (I only know about business class lounges). However, all the info I can google states that there's no problem with unaccompanied minors going into the lounge.

"A member of Cathay Pacific escorts the UM from check-in through immigration and security, one hour before departure. Customer Service Manager Jackie Man says: ‘If any are travelling in business class, we deliver them to and from the lounge. Otherwise, we go to the aircraft and introduce them to the ISM [Inflight Service Manager, the senior cabin crew member] – they have priority boarding.’"

I doubt the minor in question will be denied entry. LHR-HKG have many boarding school kids with status. It is not uncommon to see a group of them holding glasses of champagne before 238/254 departs.

Certainly not a problem my sons when they were younger (last 18 months ago) often used the lounges when travelling unaccompanied

Thanks all - that's useful (though not necessarily reassuring!) to know.
