Homes and Villas Promotion - 50k...... nope

OK - I have used the H&V services before and wasnt that bad, so I thought I would try it again, especially since BV is running a 50k bonus point promotion.
Same city as last time - but now, much fewer options.... found a place that looked nice and it was available for the day(s) that I am interested in towards the end of the month
Reasonable daily rate - start clicking thru.... except a "Cleaning Fee" that was >120% of the total stay for 2 nights

hard pass.......

I mean, nothing will beat the four nights for 40k in points from last year.

I have no desire to book anything through this platform, but what do they actually mean by "Payment for stay must be made in cash"? (https://homes-and-villas.marriott.co...y-Bonus-Points)

If I make the booking, does someone show up in my back alley with a wheelbarrow and I toss him a bag full of quarters?

If I recall, the promotion requires a relatively high level of minimum spend, something like 2,500 USD.

I know, right? That part sounds so sketchy.

We lucked in last year with the H/V offerings being part of the double night credit promo- the points per total stay isn't a selling point for us.

re the 'cleaning' fee- I found the H/V to be in line with the other third party booking sites- esp once you add in all the accessorial charges the others add in to the booking confirmation that are not obvious before you get to that window.
