Advice for AA Plat Challenge

Ok, I am a lurker, signed for first post.

I'll be flying from AUStin/houston to Europe for a week's vacation in mid july. Was considering AF $398+tax EWR->CDG+AMS->EWR multi trip (DL miles), but then I'll have to do an aus->ewr anyway, so it will probably cost 800+ ..

Better to do a Platinum challenge on AA. Right?

Can someone give me suggestions if this is enough for the 10k Qpoints? I've never flown AA before.

Any suggestions on routings, price, qpoint calculations etc GREATLY appreciated!

Regardless of all else, you won't be able to plat challenge on this one trip alone-- you need to fly 20,000 discount economy miles-- so more trip(s) will have to be taken within the 90-day window. Good luck and welcome out of the shadows!
