Citi AA credit cards, except Executive. (2013-2014)

Aha, that is probably where I was getting confused. Thanks.
Quote: ALL cards are subject to the 8/60 rule (65 to be safe). Business cards are also subject to the "One Business app per 90 days" rule (95 days to be safe).
Thanks, just wanted to make sure my Citi business card app can be slipped in and I am not violating any 12/24/26 month rules due to my 4 exec cards in 2014 or 2 platinum cards from July/August 2013. I will stick to the 8/60/90 day rule.
Quote: No, not everyone has to close the accounts before applying for a new one. I have had three open at the same time, as has my wife. I currently have one open and just applied for another and got to step 5, and will likely have no problems getting it.
To make that information useful:

Please explain how someone can figure out (without blowing a pull, ie, ahead of time) whether they're going to be one of those who can apply for another business card without closing both accounts of the previous one or not.

Is it keyed to how long you've had the previous ones open? Is it keyed to whether you have a Citi Gold account or something like that? Is it keyed to whether you have "real" business expenses? Or is it totally random (and thus something the next person cannot at all depend on)?

No idea. As I said, I have had three open at the same time, all sole proprietorships, all $0 revenue, mostly minimum spend on them. No Citi Gold accounts, just lots of credit cards.

Mine were opened: 6/11, 4/12, 9/12, 9/13, 6/14. I closed the first three prior to opening the 4th, which is still open. My wife's were opened: 6/11, 7/12, 2/13, 9/13.

There are few certainties in this game, all we have are the anecdotal reports of others. The question is, is it worth a hard pull here and there to test the limits? To me it is. So I took a chance yesterday to see if I could still have multiple business cards open at the same time. Just found out it was approved without even calling. Last summer my wife and I took a couple of hard pulls to figure out that you could (if briefly) churn AA Personal cards and how often.

Apply for a business card. Make the spend. Leave the card open. 90(95) days later, apply for another Business card. Then you'll know.

Why would anyone apply for a bus card, getting another HP, and having to wait another 65 days, and then wait to find out what happens, when they could get 100K miles by applying for an EXEC card instead?

Because the spend requirement on the business card is reasonable without much if any MS for many people, while the 100k Exec card offer's way higher spend requirement (with not any greater time to complete it) requires having heavy MSing for most people, no? (And not everyone is near a Walmart, and without a Walmart nearby, heavy MSing is not necessarily all that simple.)

(And that's also ignoring the big annual fee difference, which some people don't want to ignore. And while there may be possible tricks to avoid the annual fee, they require the spend to be even faster.)
Hello,

I need some advice. DW applied for the business card and I completely forgot to have her cancel her old card! As expected, she was declined for the card. Can we cancel her original business card and call the reconsideration line again? Which ones of the reconsideration lines in the wiki should we try?

Thanks!

IMHO Any one who is serious about miles and points, who doesn't live near a WM, needs to move.

I think you mean anyone who is in serious need of miles and points.

I think I"m "serious" enough about miles and points, but with about 2.5 million miles in several (but not quite enough!) different programs (net remainder after accumulating over the last ten years), including just over 1.5 million at AA, and with about 2 million hotel points in a number of different programs, and with only a few weeks of vacation time a year and no need for "aspirational" hotel properties, I don't have the "urgency" to have actually tried MSing yet. (I've set up a Bluebird account, but so far no activity in it yet. I got it late last year when I thought I might not be able to do some back-to-back spend thesholds "naturallY', but I was able to. Most weeks I'm near a Walmart at least once in my work-related [ground] travel, but I'm not close to one at home.)

As long as I'm earning faster than I can burn, what's the great need to earn at a "maniac" pace?

I got a large chunk of miy AA miles the easier way: During the 2BM era without limitations and with very small spend requirements, before the economic downturn, when I was getting about 10 AA cards a year. Then I was EXP, though DEQM/TEQM promos, for a few years, and during those years it made more sense to buy economy tickets and use SWUs to upgrade, so the miles accumulated but didn't get used much.
Executive Churnable?
Quote: Yes, I am planning to churn the exec card till the end of time. But I thought I could slip in a business card app under the radar as Citi sent me the mailer directly. Is the business card subject to the 8/65 day rule?
Noob question here: Is this card churnable? I got it back in Jan but dont want to waste a hard pull and spend if I can't get it again.

Really? Go to the thread that's all about the Citi Exec. card.
People are already on their 3-4th card.

My understanding is that they changed the terms and conditions in April and the card isnt churnable anymore. Can you send me the link to the Exec thread your referring too? Sorry for the hassle

It's in the Wiki..

Why would anyone spend $450 AF for 105K AA points that I can get for free?

Wrong math.

1) You get back $200 statement credit, so the net cost of the AF is $250.

2) Loads of people cancel their cards once their 100K posted within 37 days of the AF is billed and get full reversal of the AF. That means it is 0 AF, PLUS $200 statement credit.

3) If you do not do No.2), you still get a card that gives you lounge benefits (including those partners that now AA has reciprocal arrangements), as well as 0% forex fee. The Admiral Club's annual fee is $450, so you got it at a discount for the net cost of $250. Some may find this worth it.
