Throughout 7,000 years of history, Malta's location has given it great strategic importance and a sequence of powers including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Fatimids, Sicilians, Knights of St John, French and the British ruled the islands. Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic in 1974, whilst retaining membership in the Commonwealth of Nations. Malta, a member of European Union, is also party to the Schengen Agreement (since 2007).

Malta is internationally renowned tourist resort with regard on recreational repose and historical monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites....let the modern world discover Malta all over again!

Thanks. This trip report will start right after the Macau trip report ends in the next 48 hours. These two trip reports are related. My travel to Malta started from Macau.

Macau to HK Airport

As I mentioned in the Photo Trip Report: The Macau Differences -Turbojet Across the Mouth of Pearl River!, I went to Malta directly from Macau

I missed calculated the amount of the time required to travel to the ferry terminal, and just made it to the last Hong Kong airport ferry with 2 min to spare....I almost did not get out. I was tired, sweaty and stink from a day out in the humidity and sun.

Hong Kong Airport and UAL RCC

I checked my luggage at the Macau Ferry Terminal and it came out at the HK airport tranfer area. LH transfer desk was only a few steps away.

I was given the choce to use UA RCC or TG Royal Orchid Lounge. I know UA RCC has private showers and I needed to get out of my sweaty clothes for a thorough cleansing before I get on the plane. I was planning to use the UA shower, then headed out to TG lounge for some pre-departure snacks.

After a good hot shower, I was getting ready to walk out of RCC headed to TG Lounge, but I was surprised to see some real good food served at RCC. RCC typically does not have full spread of similar qualityfood during the UA flight hours. I saw Sushi, Tempura, soup, etc. I ended up staying behind instead of going over to the TG Lounge.

Munich Shower at Senator Lounge

I was dead tired after spending a long hot humid day in Macau, and went straight to sleep after the dinner meal service. I was not sure why the FA decided to turn the AC at higher temperature....I woke up sweaty!! As soon as I landed, cleared immigration, I dashed to the Senator for a shower.

I also stayed at the Westin but on the 2nd floor. You had a much nicer view.

Loved Malta and also Gozo; the Kempinski Hotel was great. Nice pics. Thanks.
