Post Photo Trip Report:This is London! - Inaugural LH A380 Frankfurt-Beijing Service!!

Yes, London!

It has been a while since I visited London (almost 2 1/2 years).

I spent most of my teenager years in a small English town where I went to boarding school. London had a special place in my heart. As a teenager, going to London was a big deal!! Trendy shops on King's Road, busy Oxford Street, and West End fashion district filled my young eager mind on each London trip in those days.

Now going back to London as a business traveller, I looked at London differently. I appreciate other things London has to offer. Things that I did not appreciate when I was a teenager.

Doing a photo trip report on London is never easy. London is so popular that it is hard to show images that people on this board has not seen before. In addition, it is also hard to "explore" London when I know the City so well. Unlike Madrid, Vienna, Luxembourg, Dublin photo trip reports I did earlier, I could just walked around those cities and let the surroundings come to me instead of me knowing where to go.

On a side note, I took the inaugural Lufthansa A380 flight from Frankfurt to Beijing (September 1, 2010) on this London trip. A brand new A380 entering commercial service for the very first time.... the plane smelled like a new car when I entered the upper deck business class cabin. The CEO of LH held a ceremony at the gate C16 business class lounge in the Frankfurt airport to kick off the A380 service. The CEO was on board the flight to Beijing and held another ceremony for the return flight. I have photos of before, during and after the this special A380 flight to show at the end of this photo trip report.

Stay Tuned!!

Arrived in China, now the local ISP does not show photos on Shutterfly!

I cannot event see the 4 photos I posted in Post #1 of this thread or any photo images in other TRs in this forum.

I cannot link photos in Shutterfly to this report until I fly out on Sunday to Hong Kong.

Sorry for the delay!

I'm a ridiculous geek, so would love to see more pics of the luggage tag.

15 years ago I inadvertently wound up on one of the United 777 inaugurals (CDG-ORD), and the Lucite commemorative from the flight still sits on my desk.

C and F pax (at least on international flights) received the lucite - Y got the certificate.

Interestingly, although the flight was in July, the plaque says "June 1995."

Pre-departure PEK-FRA

My London trip started with PEK-FRA. This is my sixth PEK-FRA flight this year. I actually quite enjoy flying LH on interncontinental routes. I am also appreciate PEK more. It is the third ranked airport in the world based on number of passengers. Terminal 3 is a truely amazing state of the art facility. China gets a lot of unfair rap because it is China. IMHO, PEK T3 ranks up there.

PS. Just arrived in Hong Kong late Sunday night (local time). Hopefully I will find enough time from my busy work schedule to post as many photos in this TR before heading back to China in a couple of days.

Ok, I will take more photos of the luggage tag from different angles and post them here later in the report.

Definitely! I have several A380 cabin shots to post (from the return flight on September 1) later in this report.

The outbound PEK-FRA flight was on the 744. I did not take as many photos on this particular flight, because it was my 9th LH intercontinental flight on the 744 this year. For more photos of cabin shots of the LH 744, please check out my other TRs (Brussels, Madrid, Dublin, Luxembourg). Links are in the first post of this thread.

I am truly honored (and embarassed) by the remarks of you finest photographers on FT.

It would be great if one of these days we could do some shoots together on a trip. or at a FT Do.
