Arrow Photo Trip Report: Hi Seoul, Soul of Asia! - First time flying Asiana!

After just completed the 400+ photos report in The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg:EU-Asia on LH F & 1st time on Lux Air, I have decided to do the opposite...... a very short photo trip report on Seoul, South Korea.

I was inspired by pigx5's photos of Seoul in his current trip report (Touring 6 cities by 1 award ticket) to do this report.

Similar to my other trip reports, I had only a short stay in South Korea's capital city. I tried to go out in the evenings and late afternoons to capture a few images of this facinating city.

Stay Tuned!!

My other photo trip reports can be accessed by click on the titles below:

First: Sorry for the delay! I have been traveling and am still traveling

Second: Please don't have high expectation of photos (in numbers and quality) - Photos were taken over 10 months ago. They weren't taken with the idea of doing a trip report.

Third: It will be a short report because the (photo) tank is low. ( similar to my Zurich photo report - second from bottom on the list appear in the first post of this thread)

What you will see in coming posts will cover:

Asiana flights to/from PEK/ICN
Asiana Lounge at ICN
Grand Hyatt - Seoul
Day and Night photos (in BW and Color)
Palace Museum
Korean Food

I will start posting the photos tomorrow.

Departing PEK

PEK to ICN is a rather short flight. The actual distance is only 562 miles according to Great Circle Mapper. It is shorter than most of the domestic flights out of PEK. Air traffic between ICN and PEK is booming with multiple daily frequencies on KE, OZ, CA and other Chinese airlines. I have never been to Korea nor flown Asiana and decided to give it a try.

I was quite surprised that many passengers on this A321 flight were connecting through ICN to their final destinations in the US. Both Asiana and Korean Air are competitive on North Asia- US routes. They compete on price and services. It appear quite a few business travellers flying premium cabins on OS between US and China via ICN.

The 90-min flight was packed. It flew around North Korea according to the in-flight map path shown. The flight would be shorter if it had flown directly between PEK and iCN.

Flight Attendents were excellent. They served a full meal on such a short flight (similar in efficiency as those LH crew on intra-EC routes).

ICN is located on an island approximately 70 miles west of Seoul. The landing approach provided views of the nearby lslands and sea.

I enjoy reading your reports a lot and your pictures are fantastic! One small correction though, Seoul is not this far from the airport. Its maybe more like 25 miles from the airport.

Thanks for pointing out the error.
I just checked wiki and I read it wrongly. It should 70 KM (43 Miles) not 70 Miles
