Most of the things I have heard about it have mentioned full economy plus the news reports I saw did quote the fares

Flew on it a few months ago on a charter...

Great Seats,
Great Food,
Great Beer....

The service was very good, and was a smooth flight.. Just had a look on expert flyer:

O7 4 0 MEL
02/12/05 06:30AM SYD
02/12/05 07:55AM 732 B J7 Y7 B7 H7 W7 K7

Seems that if you are only authorised to fly Economy you can :-)

Thumbs up

Well I arrived at 3.30 for a 4.30 flight. I asked if the flight was ontime and was told that it was around 10 mins late!
At 4.30 no sign of the aircraft. at 5.30 I asked where it was and was told it was on approach.
A very nice man helped me with my heavy luggage(turned out to be the CEO
After a 6pm departure it took some time for drinks and 2 very nourishing rolls with fresh salad and meats to arrive. something like what I was offered in Lans Chile first across the tasman!!
Wolf Blas yellow label sparkling was offered and as I really needed a fix I said yes!
The flight felt like a private jeyt with the abcking and low flying on appproach which I thought was fun(I imagine it is hard to do on a 747 or a 777 which I normally fly on
Everyone was very eager to please and I do hope this airline survives we really need this type of service.
I arrived at 7.30 and missed regency at the Park Hyatt
I do think they definitely need a simple FF program and I have a good one in mind ^
As I dont really need 1K qantas points or 625 AA
I decided to give them another go today and returned on the 12.30 flight was just a little behind time and another good flight.
I also received the salad and ham for lunch which was adequate ^

all in all a great service

OzJet flights cut back

AUSTRALIA'S newest domestic airline, OzJet, has been forced to cancel a quarter of its flights between Sydney and Melbourne just two days after its launch due to lack of patronage.

Wow, seems like they hardly gave it a chance. Without high frequencies, the business travellers they are tagetting will not come. A chicken and egg problem for sure, but isn't that why startups are designed to lose money in the first year?

Actually, now that I read the article, they only cancelled flights for that one day. Nice misleading title and quote, kpc.

They have also cancelled some flights tomorrow; there is now only 2 SYD-MEL and 1 MEL-SYD tomorrow

why dont ozjet buy qantas points and give them to customers?
even 500 points for a syd-mel flight is worth the cost..surely?

how would giving QF points, and less than QF gives at that, help loyalty for ozjet?

.... Just a hunch but somehow, I don't think that Qantas would want to sell points to Ozjet... whatever the price.

On the other hand it might just be worthwhile for them to buy some Airbucks from AirNZ to give to their customers. In line with current table .... $15 for discount fares, $25 for full economy. Might get a little more interest for potential customers.

If O7 wanted to offer a loyalty program they would be better to negotiate with some non-travel related companies for crates of beer (or whatever) by redemption after accumulating a certain number of points. Let's face it - most frequent business travellers would rather not have their air travel rewarded with more air travel

I got to try out O7 this morning and found it as follows

Check In: I arrived at 06:00 for the 07:00 departure and they were trying to get their check in system up. It took about 15 minutes to deal with check in due to the systems. I checked one bag in ( poor bag for once it had no pretty priority sticker on it ) and went to the O7 departure area in Terminal Chav at SYD

Boarding started at about 06:50 and was completed by about 06:55 given the 10 passengers which were on this service

I had seat 8A which is the overwing exit row and had lots of legroom ( 55" approx I speculate ). Row 8 has a drawback in that it doesn't recline, but the business class seat was v comfortable even without reclining. I would recommend avoiding row 7 , since it has normal pitch but does not recline due to it being ahead of the exit

One thing missing from the O7 planes are slide rafts, they expect you to form a circle of 10 people holding hands and have one kid in the middle out in the sea in front of the plane (at least thats what the safety card showed )... I was concerned since we had no kids onboard

In the safety briefing, they did not mention smoking as a hazard, just that it was not permitted due to Commonwealth Regulations

On playing around with the seat, it does seem to be all nicely set up to handle IFE; there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and controls for channel change/brighness/contrast et al all nicely there

There was no pre-takeoff service of drinks

After take off, they anounced that they would be serving breakfast with orange juice ( yes orange juice not the cr4p fusion drink that QF offers ) and tea/coffe and that there was bar service on request

The breakfast was a hot affair and had eggs, bacon etc plus a hot roll. Was quite a decent in flight brekky and they came round several times to top up orange juice, tea and coffee.

The lack of videos was not at all an issue to me;a welcome aboard by Deborah Hutton and a dire "comedy" ( which seems to be typical QF weekend fare ) is hardly something I would have watched

We arrived pretty much on schedule at MEL but did have a slight delay since it turned out thatthe aerobridge was broken and we had to wait a few mins while a staircase was brought to the rear door ( not O7s fault really )

I strolled to bag reclaim in Terminal Chav at MEL and as I got there the conveyor started, 4 bags and an umbrella came through and the conveyor stopped ; ok, my bag may not have had priority tags, but it was the 1st out .. with only 4 bags and an umbrella having been checked in on the flight , bag reclaim was sweet

I was v impressed with O7 and will definately use them again when I can; the loss of 1000 ff miles is not worth worrying about. Unfortunately they only have a limited weekend service , so Im having to fly QF back this eve in why on a 734. I hope that they do manage to gain enough customers to manage to become a long term competitor
