Boeing/737-300s -2: Northwest To Take Delivery In Summer

Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA - News) 's 757-300 with Pratt & Whitney PW2000- series engines received U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification and European Joint Aviation Authorities validation.

Yes, it should.

I would imagine NW wanted the Pratts for maintenance and commonality, since their -200's have them as well.

757 takeoff = best ride outside Disneyland.

When I saw the title, I thought "What wacky idea does NW have!" After all, they don't have so much traffic that they have to buy any aircraft they can get ahold of.

Especially out of SNA. If you haven't ever experienced that, you don't know what you're missing!

I am new to the NWA world, so...

When looking at the seat layout in the Memphis paper, I saw only 3 rows in first class. Is this right?

On Delta's 757's, first class goes all the way to the lavatory which is just forward of the midship doors, which results in I think 24 seats for first class.

What a difference.

NW has more than 3 rows of FC on 757's. You must be looking at the 727's.

take another look at it.

newspapers have this annoying habit of using boeing's seatmaps, instead of the airline's own layouts. boeing.com shows 12/231 as the standard 753 configuration.

it doesn't help that NW *still* doesn't display its own 753 seatmap on nwa.com.....

I saw the plane last night, parked outside hanger in MSP, it sure looks pretty long.

I flew home on a 757 from LAX last night, and during the flight I walked to the back of the plane looking for magazines. I can't imainge how much longer the walk would be on this new beast.

Just booked a CLE-DTW-SEA trip in October, flying the new plane DTW-SEA. According to my TA, there are 194 seats in the back, 24 in front. Used a positive space upgrade to get one of those new FC seats. I still think I'm going to miss the DC-10...

Maybe some of our "plane enthusiasts" can tell us which is longer, the 757-300, or the DC8-60?

The 753 has 24 up front and 200 in back coach is from 14-48 with row 14 having 2 seats on the port side and row 15 with 3 seat on the port side, and then row 47 with 3 seats on the port side. The elite rows are 14-24 with rows 14,26,27 and 40 being exit rows. First has 6 rows of 2 and 2.

Yes! She was there since all week, at the "South Main Hanger" as they call it. She is still tiny compared to the DC-10 in the hanger adjacent to her.

Was monitoring the ground crews which had to view an 8-minute video on her.

Exciting times for the Red Tail clan, but still a fan of domestic wide-body service Anyone for a DC-10 MSP-MKE ride??
