FOUR SEASONS GEORGE V PARIS

The Four Seasons Paris is an excellent property. Given the price point, you expect near perfection.

Room

Rooms: We had a beautiful, well appointed Four Seasons Suite. Apparently it was the best room in the category, and it showed. The blue tones, inlaid shelves, and bathroom were fantastic. In addition to a suite we also had a Deluxe room. When I saw the room, I immediately noticed a strong odor (ie the strong stench of perfume). I requested another room, but it wasn’t until the 4th room that I saw that didn’t have the smell. The fragrance was typical from guests of a certain warm geography that love Europe in the summer. On that note, the rooms are showing their age. I’m not asking for modern/contemporary, but I am looking for well kept. The carpet, drapes, baseboards etc are showing wear. A soft upgrade would go along way. Finally, it’s worth noting all the bathrooms are stunning, and the super comfortable Four Seasons beds are only made better in Paris with probably the most comfortable sheets.

Service

Front Desk: overall service really shined. In addition to the hiccups mentioned above, we had a few more instances to mention but I’ll only mention 2. And I don’t do it to be picky, but instead I think they are easy fixes. First, I told the front desk 4 times that the wireless phone wasn’t working but it was still inoperable at the time of check-out (so I had to use the phone in the water closet). Second, when we checked in we were asked our choice of newspapers, but mine never arrived. On the second morning I went to the front desk to get a paper, and the agent gave me a copy of the Times. Once I got back to the room I noticed it was from the day before. I called (from the bathroom of course) and asked for today’s copy and she said they only have yesterdays (feedback: proactively tell me you don’t have todays paper and offer me other options)

Concierge: The Concierge Team was very resourceful while we were staying at the hotel. They were incredibly competent. As soon as we walked up to the desk, they proactively discussed our plans for the day without asking for our names. Everyone was thorough, kind and knowledgeable. However I was really disappointed by the response time leading up to our stay. My emails went unanswered for 5 days, at which point it required the follow up of my travel agent to get a response. And this wasn’t a one-off… every communication I had was delayed leading up to our stay. Frankly this was the biggest detractor for our experience.

Overall Staff: The staff were genuine, warm, friendly, professional and well trained. The Guest Services (shout out to Shannon) team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and saw after all our preferences. I appreciate that much of the staff are French, helping you feel like you’re actually in France (compared to visiting the Connaught or Dorchester where you’re hard pressed to find an English accent).

Dining

F&B: The variety of dining options were tremendous. We particularly enjoyed each evening at The Bar; not only the creative cocktails but also the engaging staff. Our dinner and breakfasts at Le Cinq were particularly marked by phenomenal service (shout out to Franck at dinner), and the food was good too. Le Gallerie was all-day fare, and Christina took incredible care of us. The food at Le George was good but the service was off; staff were the least attentive of the restaurants and they got a drink order wrong twice. At Le George we ordered dishes family style and split each one; for whatever reason our waiter brought us 3 of the sole fish when we only ordered 1. We wasted almost 2 of the dishes; and when we asked the waiter why he tripled our order, and he had no reason (but still charged us for all 3 dishes).

Overall

Final mention: the gym was top notch and the pool is stunning

Will we be back? Absolutely; this hotel has a wonderful vibe. But would I also give Le Bristol or La Reserve a hard look before returning to Paris? Yes. We previously enjoyed Le Meurice too.
