From Oslo to Bangkok via Doha on Qatar Airways in Biz

Hello again ...time to share another recent trip i had in Nov 11 with you all.

As some of you already may know, Qatar Airways just (05 oct 11) started up their route DOH-OSL. Doing so, they also had som nice prices in both Y and C-class. A roundtrip ticket to BKK in C was «only» approx 1947 USD. I had to go down because i was handing over my part of our house in Hua Hin to my friend. (He bought my part out) Due to these nice fares, i also bought my ticket for my vacation in january next year. Because i know that paperwork in Thailand can be difficult, this ment then that this would be kind of a work/pleasure trip for me. Anyways...we would start of in the province of Kanchanaburi – which may be known mostly for «The Burma Railway», (Bridge over River Kwai) and the beautiful Erawan National Park. We will also stop at the famous floating market Damnoen Saduak after our 3 days in Kanchanaburi, as some days in Hua Hin.

NB!

This is a long Photo TR, and contains a lot of pictures, not only from the flights, but also from some of the visited destinations. I appoligize to those with a low speed connection to internet.....You are now warned... .....All clickable logos are registrated trademarks, and are credited the owner with direct links ...

Anyways, welcome to my PHOTO TR from my recent vacation

FROM OSLO TO BANGKOK VIA DOHA
ON IN BUSINESS.......

On paper it looked like this:

Started of on the airport express train from Asker (Just outside Oslo).

OSL Control TWR

Some «tarmac action» seen from drop off/departure level @ OSL

After a rather pleasent Check In at Qatar`s counters at OSL, i had boardingpass OSL-DOH-BKK, and a voucher for the security fast track, and a invitation to the OSL Lounge.

Had a nice lunch with my mom at «Peppes Pizza» (a norwegian pizzachain...) + some cigarettes before security and tax-free shopping.

Mmmmmm....quality goods at the Tax-Free Shop...way to expensive though...

Then it was time for boarding – announced family with children first, other needing passengers, and then by seatrows...Biz pax where welcome to board as they pleased.

I chose the Chardonnay for the entry dish:

The table was then set, and the serving continued:

I chose the Salmon for my main dish – i tasted really good...

Then time for some cheese...Had the port with this – and it tasted very good....

Finished up the meal with some quality Cognac (Camus XO) and fine chocolat...

After a couple of rounds with the cognac, i checked out Qatar`s entertainment system. Plenty of things to keep you occupied....

The toilet had to be «checked out», and it looked like this:

Closing in to Doha, with approx. 1 1/2 hour to go, the second serving started. The food was good, and needed; Of unknown reasons (not announced..), we had some «punishment rounds» out in the fjord. Due to this, we came in later than expected – and i only had time for 1 cigarette in the Premium Terminal. To bad – i had looked forward to check out this terminal for a while ...Oh well, i got the chance after my return flight from BKK, and will show you some pictures from that later on.

Hmmm....

Soon landing, and some from DOH-BKK og B77W very soon.

Biz pax was picked up by their own bus, and transported to the Premium Terminal.

Awaiting next foodserving.......

Starter:

Started to get relatively tired now, and told the FA that i did`nt wanted breakfast arrivng in to BKK. Allthough, i asked to be woken up at serving time – i wanted to get the views out of the vindow arriving BKK.

Was woken up by the FA, and got served some cold water and warm towel....I was somehow «keen» to see how the flooded northwestern parts of Thailand looked like from the plane....

About here now.....

«Morning Glory» in the cabin:

As we decended towards BKK, it came clear what kind of catastrophe wich had hit Thailand. Here are some photos from northwest of Bangkok. We flew almost straight over the old airport Don Muang, and could clearly see airplanes in water....

Straight over the old airport........

Then, closing in to BKK....

On final....

Touchdown....

@ GATE:

A great flight with a great airplane was over. Know i just had to find my GF and friends on the outside – before we headed towards Kanchanaburi.

Our regular driver, which has become a really good friend as well, took us safely towards our next destination...

Closing in to Kanchanaburi City we all got hungry. Stoped here for some food along River Kwai...

Studying the menu....

Of course – the driver needs food as well....

A «typical» thai meal.....

Great views from our table:

Then – of to the hotel. Must admit that it was « a little out there», meaning it took about 25 minutes back to the city. It was clearly a «Up Marked Thai Resort», but that did not matter. The hotel was great...

Before we even started the short hike for the waterfalls, the girls decided it was time for food again...

Amazing what a small kitchen like this can bring of food and tastes....
