With just 24 hours in Heidelberg, we wasted no time going into town. The whole town was definitely in Christmas mode already. There was like one Christmas market every few hundred meters as one walked down the Hauptstrasse. We also visited the top of ???, which gives a very nice view of the town from the top of the church.

The Castle itself was quite interesting. It seems like they are working on doing some major repairs on the Castle to fix it up. So, some part of it is still in ruins.

There was a super big wine barrel in there

IC Frankfurt

After arriving from Heidelberg into FRA at 5:35pm, we waited patiently till the Late Night Check-in became available for next-day passenger. At 6:00pm shape, we approached the Star Gold/First class desk for check-in desk. It turns out that my research has remained the same, First class has been booked full, while C/Y are crazy underbooked. So, with our plan to use our SWU to upgrade the flight has been foiled, we checked our bags and then made our way to Frankfurt am Main. The best part about Frankfurt is that there is always an S-bahn train taking you to downtown area (the worst that you have to wait is probably 15 minutes) and the journey is approximately 10 minutes.

After unexplainably getting lost in getting to IC FRA, which should only be 5-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, we finally arrived into IC Frankfurt. We have booked the cheapest room since it was really just an overnight layover room. However, they have upgraded us to a panoramic suite. The suite actually comprises of two rooms, one serving as a bathroom (or really just a standard hotel room), while the corner room serving as an office. This kind of setup was quite weird. While the corner room was just way too big as a living room/office, the sleeping room was just too small to be a bedroom. But, it was all good. We essentially left immediately for the Christmas Market at the Dom/Roemer, which is 10-minute walk away from IC Frankfurt.

Dom/Roemer kinda reminded me of the perfect mileage run that we had a few years ago. We landed into FRA in the morning. After a nice nap, we went to Dom/Roemer for a nice dinner and some photos, then we returned to FRA the next day to fly back to US. The truth is that there is plenty more to be seen close to FRA. But, if you want a relaxing a MR around FRA (aka not an immediate turnaround in FRA), that might be a fun way to do it.

Alright. Back to going home, our flight to LAX has been assigned to A55, which is one of the gates going to the US. However, A55 is really far from the Tower lounge, which is located after gate A65. So, it took quite a while to get there. The lounge was just newly built and everything looks quite fresh. However, the snacks available for the morning departure are quite interesting. There is your usual croissant, they also have a hot sandwich station.

Once we are onboard, we are quite impressed by the comfort of the seat. I mean, it is no SQ new business class. However, it was certainly acceptable. The FAs were competent and quite friendly. So, it was in general a good flight, even though it is the end of the trip.

This was very enjoyable. It gives me photos to think about for my flights (or maybe wishes like SQ) this summer. Thank you.
