Silvercar total price correct?

Silvercar total price correct?

Was about to rent from Silvercar at LAS for the first time and got a bit confused here.

Total price on the app showed as: $260 USD

When I clicked on price breakdown it shows as £260 GBP (about $380)

So I sent an email in with screen shots asking them to confirm the price as the USD total just to be sure.

I got an email back apologising and saying that the price should be $342

Eh?!


Edit: realised her calculated price is without the coupon code, though that still doesn't explain the use of $/£ in the breakdown.

keep the usd screenshot

charge it to your cc

then do a chargeback for the amount you were quoted (screenshot)

when you get the car play stupid

even if they invoice you higher before you physically get the car, i found amex will back you up with the rate you were quoted

cc companies always take consumer side, don't let vendor manipulate you

You don't prepay with Silvercar, you're charged when you actually rent the car.

That said, if you book a reservation for $260, and they try to charge you GBP260, you have excellent grounds to push back or dispute the charge.

i know it's charged when picked up

i had an issue with thrifty here in cpt. i booked an suv for $80usd for 3 weeks (yep a bargain) and they then said at the counter that'll be $1400usd for the 3 weeks

talked to my amex agent in usa over this:

"so if i book a car for $80sd and at the counter they say i'll pay $1400usd, will you guys help me with the chargeback for the 1320 difference?"
"yes absolutely that's ridiculous if you can show us the confirmation for 80 we'll make sure that's the honored rate"


sure enough the chargeback stuck

living in s africa i realize not all cc are as good as the usa, but if it is, same logic. they'll have your back

assuming op has as good of a cc as me, i advise to play stupid
