Syd - Melb hop on A330-300

Hey all, thinking of booking a flight from Syd - Mel on a listed A330-300 for the experience. Probs upgrade to Business with points. When I search the flight history, it lists 738's, 767's as well as the A330. If the flight is listed as an A330-300 aircraft, is that aircraft guaranteed ? My concern is if I was to upgrade to business on the A330 and then the aircraft changes to a 738, what would happen to the business seat as the 738 only has 12 seats unlike the A330 which has 30. Would love to hear from anyone on this topic. Cheers

Scott747 Welcome to the forum
Is this for Qantas using QF points? It is only a short flight. No airline guarantees the aircraft type.
You post may get moved to the QF forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qanta...ent-flyer-498/

yes was going to purchase economy seat and upgrade with points. Just curious as when you do this, you get to choose your seats so what would happen if the plane was changed to another model...

SYD-MEL is a short shuttle so I wouldn't bother with J.

There is no guarantee for the aircraft type and the further out you book the more likely it is to change. You would either be accommodated on the same flight or a small chance moved to another flight if there are too many J bookings.

Agree. Unless you have Avios costing less than HK$0.033 (US$0.0043 / A$0.00485) http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...?id=9750&p=181 #1806 and #1812

As nux said, it's never guaranteed.

However, I've booked travel on the A330 between SYD and MEL many times, usually several months in advance, and only once did I end up travelling on a different type of aircraft.

Very cool. These would also be the standard internationally configured A333s too, right?

Sure - not much difference down the back though.

[mod hat] Welcome to FT, Scott747. Your thread was transferred over to the QF forum where you had asked the same question already. I will combine the two thread. In the future, please don't ask the same question in different forums, as this is against FT rules. [/mod hat]
