Ba sfo-cpt wt+ $1700

Just booked. Dates in January 2018

Price reflects USA AARP discount -- May be US 1800 without.

Books into T Fare Basis TLNCNAS 885 fare 915 fees taxes etc. (720 YQ)

On AA Advantage earns 100% EQM and RDM (22k each). Also earns 0.20 EQD per mile so $4400 !! Nice Return

Even better, the T class ticket should earn 150% EQM on AA, not just 100%, so that's around 33,000 EQM. Great find for leveraging EQD.

Buy an AARP membership and you'll have access to a portal where you may avail of their discounts on BA flights.

No. You'd have to be in full-fare WT+ (fare class W, not T) to do that.

The SFO-LHR is the 747-4 v3 and the LHR-CPT is V1

Is a rule that applies to ex-US only?

(I recently booked DUB-YYC-DUB in T and then UUA'd to CW.)

That's actually not correct. All Premium Economy fare classes are upgradable on BA. But other airlines (like CX) do require a fare change to upgrade.

Can you use both avios or cash to upgrade? Or only cash?
