The best bang for the buck seems to be BKK which allows some nice routings:

to get Alaska Gold do I have to fly anything with Alaska or Just park my miles will get me to Gold in
Alaska? I have no status with emirates. Which one is for bang for my buck?

Why limit yourself? Go as far as CHC or AKL and earn 45000 tier points (5K short of Skywards Gold) or more than 70K AS miles (more than 90K if you have higher tier status). All for less than 4K EUR.
But if you ask me, CAI always was a cheap origin for premium fares and this year we definitely saw better offers on this routes. Positioning to CAI might also not be a piece of cake for some of us. Unless you fly EK so often and therefore value the status with them, you could wait for a better offer.

Alaska metal in order to earn status with them, however, you do need more miles when using partner airlines to reach each status level.

I am currently re-thinking my FFP participation and might use Emirates to shuttle between Europe and Asia in 2017 instead of flying Star Alliance carriers.
That way, I can collect a ton of miles via Alaska MP to use for reward flights for friends & family the following year, after earning in 2017.
