I do not believe that AA offers Business Class on this route; only First Class and Coach.

How did you get to this exactly?

Ticket price minus taxes is ~$110 and the EXP Multiplier is 11.

That comes to 1210 which is then doubled for a P fare so 2,420. Multiply that by 6 roundtrips and you are at 14,520.

EQM is calculated on miles flown not cost of ticket. RDM is based on ticket price before taxes and fees.

You calculated RDM, not eqm.

EQMs have nothing to do with price or EXP multiplier. They are distance traveled x2 for class.

Even that is wrong. You don't get any bonus for P fare. Strictly cost of ticket.

It's also good on the reverse PDX-LAX-PDX for $147.

Just FYI

I used to do once a month JFK-LAX-PDX r/t for work, and I can tell you if you pick the right days, you're likely to receive a VDB voucher.

I've seen a couple for $500 on PDX-LAX on Friday departures.

Was this on DL? I don't think AA VDB is likely to happen on this route, even on peak travel days. AA doesn't have the same level of corporate traffic that DL does.

Agh, you're right. It was DL... flying too much AA lately messed with my memories. Sorry!
