AA: AUS-SJU ~$552ai (Business)

AA: AUS-SJU ~$552ai (Business)

Sample:
Feb 6-7 AUS-CLT-MIA-SJU-CLT-AUS ~$552ai (A,I) (5230mi ~10.6cpm)

-Through End Of Schedule. (EOS)
-21 day advance.
-For one-way fares. (round-trip not required)

Long layovers/overnights look to be necessary at the lowest prices, especially to max out miles. Multicity @ AA looks to work well...

One-day turn in Dec

Thanks for posting... I found the following 1-day turn in Dec.

AUS-CLT-SJU-CLT-AUS for $610 all-in on Sun 6-Dec in A,I classes

Yields 5012 EQM or 10024 EQP and 11024 RDM for ExPlat

So that's $0.055 / RDM by my math.

Have one on hold currently ... still need another 1680 points (900 mi in J) and was looking at different routing options but nothing really working.

You can sneek a PHX connection into the routing (outbound or inbound) on a few Dec dates. The layovers and flight times are not great, but it would kick the BIS miles over 6k round-trip. If you are interested I can provide an example...

Would love to see an example with PHX in there ... I couldn't get it to work on Google Flights.

Keep in mind the EQP is a 1.5x multiplier, not 2x, so it's really 7518 EQP.

Booked. Outbound 12/13 from AUS and return 12/14.

Total came out to $606, which was actually cheaper than when I had priced it out and put it on hold last night ($660).

Yep! ^

Was able to finally get the PHX stuck in there, but it still wasn't enough EQP that I needed. So I did some more searching and discovered the following:

(1) There's some interesting biz fares to POS (port of spain) on Dec 4-5 for some good EQP accrual

(2) Lima and Bogota might be better options if you need up to 7500-8500 miles (15k+ EQP) in Dec from Austin

(3) I should turn this into a mini vacation to SJU instead of pissing away 2 days flying and take my wife. That way I won't feel silly for spending $900 on flights to nowhere (I know I'm paying for future upgrades and SWUs, etc.)

So, I'm now booking a modified itin to get me the 7100 miles I need (14k points) in biz ...

AUS-PHX-MIA-SJU-MIA-PHX-AUS on Dec 28-31 for $959 all in. Maybe not the cheapest, but I've never been to PR and I like the ocean and the beach.

One quick question for those in the know ... I assume if everything gets jacked up and I get re-routed, I can still get original routing credit for the sake of the EQPs I'm trying to get. I believe I did this many years ago via e-mail to AA customer service, but wanted to make sure that's still the MO.

Thanks for all the input and sharing ... perhaps we need an Austin MR forum to ourselves...
