Looks to be another short term window sale, filed last week and must be ticketed by Mar 3. Fare valid until Dec 2015 and looks like lots of availability but also a number of black out periods.

Unfortunately it appears the inverse routing (JFK-CRM-JFK) is not only not discounted, but 4x the price.

Unlike U.S. domestic fares, int'l fares rarely work the same both ways. The only thing worth noting is when it is symmetrical.

From ITA today, shows both QR and EY fares. Fare rules show both as (currently) bookable.

And BTW- $2150 for CMB-AUH-SFO or CMB-AUH-LAX on EY is pretty good too if on west coast and you have to be doing positioning to/from east coast to use JFK fare.

QR fares have restriction "any QR flight operated by QR" which I take to mean you can only fly CMB-DOH-JFK
EY fares seem to all have a rule not allowing for any transfers in Europe, so I think you are similarly limited to EY metal to the US.
These are just dirt cheap EY or QR only metal. But dirt cheap as you point out. I was flying to CMB 10 years ago for $1200 RT fares, amazing to have one (albiet far more restrictive) not far off from that consistently popping back up these days.

I am able to find CMB-JFK flights via DOH-LHR or DOH-CDG with AA metal on the final leg, for an additional $300.

Yup, QR IRTEULK fare basis allows transit through many EU cities and onward to the US on any QR coded flight. It is roughly $300 additional each way ($260 in fare difference and then various taxes depending on where you connect). This one also gets rid of 3 month max (instead has 12 month) and allows stopovers for $100 (but read these carefully, no DOH stopover on outbound and max 96 hour stopovers!)
The $1500 RT fare is QR IPFRLK94

Both EY and QR fares still there and now showing ticketing deadline of Mar 5. I wonder if they'll just keep pushing these out?
BTW great efforts by QR to keep folks from using these in errr, creative ways. I've never seen this level of detail ;-) IN CASE THE PASSENGER NEEDS THE BAGS IN DOHA THE HIP RULE MUST BE APPLIED OR TWO SEPARATE TICKETS NEED TO BE BOUGHT.
Next we'll see: You will not get off the stinking plan in Doha or we will track you down and imprison you!

Or, looked at slightly differently, -- We learned our lesson last time. Here are the fare rules. We plan to enforce them. No exceptions.
