“I was in the line and I heard people scuffling, and I saw this man waving the knife up in the air,” said Bedford. “The man was scuffling and fighting with the TSA agents when one of the TSA agents sprayed him with a big bottle of Mace, they sprayed it towards him and some of the people on line in front of me,” he added.
Bedford confirmed that he saw a TSA agent get cut with the knife. “They tried tackling him to the ground,” said Bedford, “and the man with the knife and the TSA agents ran into a metal detector and pushed it over.”
According to Bedford, the man then got up and ran past the security area and into the terminal, out of Bedford’s sight and into a nearby store inside the terminal.

Farah Stockman, a columnist and editorial writer for the Boston Globe who was at the airport at the time, said she witnessed the shooting.
"Just witnessed craziest thing: dead body at #NewOrleans airport. Man stabbed 2 pple at security line shot by police," Stockman wrote on Twitter. "People had heard gunshots. Everyone was hiding behind chairs and in doorways. Made our way to exit. Body was lying in a pool of blood."

Well, at least it didn't turn into a repeat of the LAX shooting (not the same type of situation) but at least no TSA agents were killed.

Time to stop letting the freebies into the PreCheck line.
I was delayed last time doing this in Austin, as they were letting people into the PreCheck line for free, causing a longer delay than had I gone through the normal line.
Sounds like they let this guy into the PreCheck line, that attacked the TSA agents.

Seriously? A woman gets stabbed by a psycho and your concern is over which line he was standing in because he never would've stabbed anybody in the other lane? You've got to be kidding.
