Schneier: 'Kip Hawley Comments on the Domodedovo Airport Bombing'

Today's blogpost at Schneier on Security:

This is the first piece of writing I've seen from Kip Hawley since he left the TSA in 2009. It's mostly generalities and platitudes.

This is coming from the same TSA Administrator who felt it more important to have two changes in the uniforms its screeners wear versus updating the x-ray technology used at checkpoints. Despite a regular 60-90% failure rate in detecting bombs and bomb components at checkpoints.

Odd to hear from Kippy....

so TSA requires only what it can justify, write down and audit.
I guess it's easy to justify strip-searching Grandma and the kids.. In the name of security

Kip Hawley is still an idiot.

It's clear as day that he of KHIAI fame is still a fan: of the stupidity of public "security through obscurity"; of inconsistency; of not having to follow rules (published or otherwise); and of mission creep. In other words, he's a stupid cook (or kitchen commentator) who is too stupid to know he's hooked to a recipe for process failure.

Is this the same Kip who played a role in Napoleon Dynamite?

It's theater! Of course the costumes matter!

Perhaps I need to add the word 'still' to my Kippie bag.

The smurfs at SAN actually pulled out my baggie and had a 'discussion' about my writing of 'Kip Hawley is an idiot' on it, but they didn't seem to know who Kip Hawley is.

They also discussed my Don't Scan Me water bottle, and did not seem to understand what that referred to either.

You should add "...and so is John Pistole."
