Varig - Miami to Salvador..any news?

Saw a prior post about a Varig announcement regarding new (or reintroduced?) Miami to Salvador service.

Any news on when, and was the announcement made before or after the government takeover of Varig.

Also- do you think it's a good idea to roll my at risk United miles into future paper tickets on Varig, an airline that is being nationalized? Are miles on a bankrupt US airlines still better than real "future" tix on a govt takeover airline? Tks!

MIA-SSA is only operated direct non-stop with TAM (AA partner). However, you may fly RG with a change of planes in GRU.

Government will not take over RG, it was only speculation.

RG stocks finished the week with a +70 spike. Many private groups are interested in buying a stake in the ailrine, including TAM, GOL, LH, LA, TAP and Portuguese group "Pestana", with which RG operates the charter Trans Altlantic.

Enjoy Salvador!
