Air Tahiti Nui TN Biz Upgrade
I talked a TN reservation agent who indicated customers in Y can upgrade to J for a $1,195 fee (OW). She was unable to do it during the call and didn't know how far in advance it could be done. Does anyone here know?
I assume it can only be done on day of departure. So, I wonder if I'll be able to do this over phone while in DEN, or if we'll have to wait until we connect at LAX?

TN offers counter upgrades to Poerava Business for cash or credit card if they're available when you check in - not in advance, and not if you're flying on a codeshare ticket. Hint: be early.

We'll probably be out of luck since we're trying to upgrade a one-way AA award on TN, even though the TN Agent indicated we could do so. We land at LAX a little more than 3 hours before the flight to PPT, so once we collect our bags and head to TN to check-in, we'll see if we can charm the agent at the counter.

I've been denied purchasing a counter upgrade whilst flying TN in Moana Coach as an AA codeshare, so it all seems arbitrary.
I've been to French Polynesia many times, and IMO TN ground staff are often unwelcoming, rigid and love saying "no" - not at all like the Polynesian cultural norms.
