This would be a perfect topic for FlyerTalk's Online Booking and Bidding forum. I'll move it there. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

This is horrible news. Goodbye to the Orbitz 18-25% codes, hello to Expedia's 5-10% ones. Plus goodbye to the Orbitz package codes that were generally good for almost the entire year. Hello to Expedia's ones that are full of disqualifications, and change regularly.
Lol, a "travel analyst" on the local news just did a piece on it, saying it is GOOD news for travelers. He didn't say WHY it was good news. Will airfare go up, NO. Will hotel prices go up, NO. Will car rental prices go up, NO.
My take from it is that he is a moron, who has no idea how to get a deal on travel. His big advice was to price a package, then price separately. If the package prices out higher, do not buy it. Wow, that is a huge morsel of wisdom.

They didn't let it go. It was a stock spinoff. If an Expedia shareholder didn't sell his TRIP shares, he owns the same % of TRIP as he did when it was part of Expedia.
