[FARES GONE] Egyptian Pound Devalued - bargain prices for RTW tickets
The USD:EGP exchange rate has today gone from 1:8.9 to 1:13.5 (source xe.com)
Some bargains to be had
For example - the base fare for a DONE4 is EGP44000
Yesterday that translated to USD4944
Today it translates to USD3260

Mr. pandaperth - I will buy you a beverage of choice if you ever return to PERTH...
Called AA RTW and the final price for the DONE4 should be available on Mon/Tue.
Hopefully the new rates will "stick" that long.
Happy wandering

Planning two visits back to Perth in 2017
First ~February
Second in November for #2 daughter's wedding which is to be in Margaret River, so some fines wines will be consumed then
Maybe we can meet up on the road somewhere Fred. IIRC you are starting a DONE from MPM sometime. I will be back there in early June to start my next DONE
Will give serious thought to what beverage I want

So the DONE4 base fare is now down to USD2830

My Brother's DONE4 was listed as $2799 and my AONE4 as $5745. I'm guessing that it is 15.6/US$. Both tickets listed as on request after the RTW desk took my credit card details. I should be OK, correct?

Dr. HFH, if you made your reservation on Friday you should be able to see the pricing online under your AA account. I made two DONE4 reservations, and both fares showed up online in less than 24 hours (it seems they do get priced over the weekend after all.) Now... I was on the phone until a minute ago, there have been some (unexplained to me) issues with the tickets, and I should hear back tomorrow Monday... will report back soon after.

Sometimes moving too quickly has disadvantages. Booking last Friday yielded DONE4 44000EGP = $US3093 (pricing shown at the end of the PNR listing when the reservation is examined) rather than the better rates later in the weekend. Airline fees of $US702 and taxes of $US418
While the taxes were individually available (popup from reservation), the airline fees were not. Comments (or how to find the detail) on the airline fees welcome, though I will ask when I call to pay.

where s marks the stops. PER-MEL-AKL-LAX-ORD matches an award ticket for Mrs WF.

Still can't decide whether to buy any more. On one hand it's a great deal. On the other hand, I already have all the tickets I need through July, 2017, and don't anticipate any more travel until the end of November, 2017, which is beyond the current schedule.
