Star Alliance options into/out of Tahiti in 2018?
We are in the early stages of planning a honeymoon for April 2018 (from NY to Japan & French Polynesia). Not sure if there are any future seasonal routes planned but right now it looks like there aren't many options for Japan to PPT, and then PPT back to NYC. Ideally would like to fly on *A airlines but there doesn't seem to be many options.
Best I can find so far is:
NY > Tokyo on UA or ANA
Tokyo > PPT on Air Tahiti Nui (not *A)
PPT > NY via HNL (Hawaiian Air to HNL - not *A; then UA from HNL to NY) OR PPT > NY via AKL (on ANZ/UA)
Any other/better options come to mind?

The only star alliance airline flying to Tahiti is Air NZ AKL-PPT (only a few days a week and watch out for codeshares on Air Tahiti Nui).
So you could fly NRT/HND-AKL-PPT-AKL-LAX/SFO/IAH/YVR all on Air NZ, albeit with a lot of backtracking.
IIRC Air Tahiti Nui is a partner of AA?

All airports will list airlines. Smaller airports, like PPT, can often list routes.
There is a risk seasonal airlines and/or routes are not listed when you look
Air Tahiti Nui & HA are partners of AA
