I'll be in Melbourne next weekend and would like to attend the North Melbourne vs Geelong match. I'm curious what the best route is to get tickets. Is scalping legal in Melbourne? Will tickets be readily available? Can you buy them online? How about at the ticket office?

It will be just me so only one ticket if that helps

Thanks!

Is scalping legal in Melbourne? No. But look on ebay.com.au
Will tickets be readily available? Likely to be a sell out as both teams are local (G'long is just down the highway so sort of local).
Tickets go club members and others as determined by the AFL.
Corporate packages are big sellers/big earners for the clubs, so tickets can had for a $$$$$ price.

Norf [sic] Melbourne doesn't have the fan base as say Essendon, Collingwood or Carlton but there were plenty there last night judging by the TV.

Hawthorn v Geelong only got 74,000 on Friday night.

I'd look at the AFL website (afl.com.au) and see what the process for getting tickets is there. I think you'll be able to get a ticket.

If last night's match was anything to go by, it'll be a great game.

It looks like tickets go on sale to the general public in just over 24 hours. If I remember right the MCG can fit like 100k people so I think should be ok. I was thinking I may be able to get a good seat for a single cheaper from a scalper but I wasn't sure if it was legal.

Hope you enjoyed the game, was a pretty good game actually compared to some of the weekly games in season.

I had a great time. Certainly was a great game to watch and an even better atmosphere. Surprisingly there were a lot of seats left.

As I mentioned above, North Melbourne doesn't have the largest fan base. It's relatively small actually.

Getting 63,000 to a game is pretty good relatively speaking. The ground seats just over 100,000 so although 63,000 is a lot of people, the ground will look a bit emptier regardless.

I think the largest crowd I've been to at the MCG has been about 90,000 for a Carlton v Collingwood game. The place literally shakes when a goal is scored such is the noise. One of the great sporting arenas in the world.

I don't come to the SWP forum much - if I had seen this last week, I may have been able to get you a few seats for ~$20 each - too late for that now.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

I'm reserving some seats tomorrow morning for Saturday's game.

As far as a crowd of 63000 goes - that means there are 36000 empty seats!

I have been to crowds of over 100000 over the years.

I see N Melbourne lost in the next round. Such an underrated game. I hope to make it back again next year.

Great effort against Essendon (and against the odds) . No shame in being taken down by Sydney.
