One-Way Car Rentals to/from JFK

I'm not sure if this is posted elsewhere but maybe helpful for those requiring a car for a daytrip with origin/destination of JFK to/from Manhattan. Starting at $40, unlimited miles, free fuel.

Caution - some routes require tolls (tunnels) and traffic should discourage any out of towners if/when public transportation is a significantly better option but if you want mobility or shopping excursion this is a good deal.

And since the rates include the first tank of gas, your net cost for the car can approach $0, if you drive the car enough before returning it (like a day trip to upstate New York, e.g.)

Uh oh. This link appears to be dead... Maybe one of you exhibited the sense that I did not and documented the the BCD and/or coupon code for this deal to try to reserve that way...? Or maybe it's really dead...

Don't know if the offer is still valid, but here's the BCD code that was associated with it:

There's also Avis' four-hour, one-way rental -- which is only offered on certain days of the week -- for $19.99. The Avis rate does not include free fuel, but does include LDW. Details here:

Looks like it's still valid. A test booking for 9/29-30 JFK to 49th Street yielded $40 for economy/compact and $45 for intermediate/standard/full-size. But with taxes/fees the full-size comes out to $63.53, so it's about the same price as a basic car service. Works the other way, too.

It's not clear to me whether fuel is still included with this BCD or not. Note that if it's not included, Budget has a policy of requiring a gas receipt for trips under 75 miles or else they automatically charge you for a few gallons of gas.

Total price should be cheaper picking up in Manhattan, rather than at an airport.

Hotwire, especially when booking in advance, often has $30/day from LGA ("hot rate" so you don't know the rental agency). I'll then take that rate, knock off 25% and enter the price into Priceline for the "name your own price" tool.

LGA is also much more accessible than JFK (especially with the Q70 bus).

Yup. $40 rate on compact, $56.87 total JFK-Manhattan, $47.95 Manhattan-JFK. About $9 extra taxes for the JFK pickup.

FYI, for the car rentals at LGA, you should probably take the Q47, not the Q70, since the rental places are over near the Marine Air Terminal. You could take the Q70 to the central terminal, and then a rental car shuttle over, I suppose, but easier to take the Q47 and then walk for five minutes.

You're right, but it depends on the agency. I usually book National, which is three minute walk over the bridge from the Q70 stop.
