Was there on Friday and it is just counter service. My choices were a Cobalt or a Dodge Avenger. When I asked when a Cobalt stopped being a compact I was informed by the agent it was "when Enterprise bought National."
There were seven people behind me in the line at the counter so was probably lucky I even got a car, and decided the Avenger was a step up from the Cobalt.

Anything new here? I'm going to be getting there very late in the day, and have a bad feeling that counter service is going to try and tell me that some lone SCAR is the same as the FCAR that I've reserved.

I never reported back on this one. I was pleasantly surprised, I was offered a pretty good selection of full-size sedans and mid-size SUV/Crossovers even late at night, especially given that it was College of Charleston's graduation weekend. I ended up taking a Hyundai Santa Fe.

any more rentals from CHS? I'll be there next week and (I know, I should reserve what size I really want) I have a need for an upgrade to an SUV for a golf trip. Got a crazy rate so I'm looking to upgrade instead of reserving for $300+ more for 4 days...

Giving this thread a bump. Leaving next week for an 8 day rental out of CHS, and it's been a long time since I had to deal with counter service. Anyone who's rented recently, share some observations?

Not pleased with the location at all.
First, they had extra charges on my reservation that were not on my printout .. had to argue to get those taken out. They also had my reserved car class wrong.
Finally offered me a Jetta, Altima, Malibu or Mazda (forget which one)
I took the Jetta since had sat radio and low mileage ... too bad it also has no working air conditioner. It just blows hot air. My 90mile drive to Columbia was miserable with the windows down and I'm off 40mins out of my way tomorrow morning to CAE to hopefully swap out the car.
It's non-EA, so you have to wait for the counter and their limited selection ... oh and some don't work. Its 97 and humid, the no air is a big factor. No idea how they rented that car to me.

I'm heading to CHS in a couple weeks and have a Mustang convertible (or similar) booked. I'm using a few free days but have to pay for 1, and with the price I'm paying I'd better get what I reserved! Are my chances pretty good since I'm EE and giving them a lot of notice?
Or will I just get a 1987 Mustang convertible?

Picked up my reservation on Friday morning. EA and ES seemed to be fully stocked upon my arrival. Mainly looked at Exec side but EA seemed to have the usual selections. Exec had a mix of Camrys, Impalas, Equinoxs and a couple Challengers. We ended up taking a 2021 Black Volkswagen Tiguan SE with 1800 miles. There was a white Tiguan as well but opted for the black.
Overall really happy with our decision. Had a fair amount of luggage to pack into the car for a weekend getaway. SE trim included lots of nice features and the interior was comfortable. Drive was very smooth. Would definitely rent again if available.
