Cars at OMA

Not an aisle location but a great selection and choice picks for Club members.
I picked up Friday afternoon, would guess about 200 cars on the lot, they seemed to be on the larger end of the spectrum, a lot of SUVs and larger sedans. I was hoping for a Volvo as I have come to like the interior layout but was given a 2010 Dodge Charger (<3000 miles).

On return Sunday evening I saw the fleet had a smaller section as well including Kias and Hyundai Sonatas. If you book Intermediate or higher you should be pleased with the result.

2nd poor experience at Omaha Airport

Today was the second time in succession that I have only been offered a mid-size car at the Emerald Booth in Omaha. The first time (a couple of months back) I didn't realize what I had been given until I got to the car, a Caliber, but as the EA was virtually empty, the car had satellite radio and there was a queue at the booth I let it go. Tonight, same again offered a Caliber, both ES and EA where full and there was no queue to hold up so I queried the car size and asked about a full size from ES, I was immediately offered a Charger which I accepted.
Anyone else experienced this attempt to give out smaller cars first? I have not had a problem elsewhere and usually found that in locations with booth or counter service they offer a choice of the cars available so I can make my own choice.

Emerald Executive here picked up car on 8/3 VW Tiguan. Not your normal rental car so I thought I would give it a try. Its a small SUV. Very punchy turbo engine. Found myself chirping the tires with very little effort. Other than that selection was fairly mundane, Malibu, Impala, Jeep Patriot.

Rented this weekend

Picked up a car on friday night for 4 days...booked a full size and my options were Sonata, altima, avenger, camry, malibu and impala. I chose the impala b/c it only had 300 miles on it. At first i asked about the Camry, but it had 14,000 miles on it.

Good option

Got another four day rental here in OMA...reserved a full size and when I got to the garage, was asked if i wanted a four door car or an SUV. I asked what SUV's were available, and he started going through the normal list of standard small SUV's, but then said "Toyota Sequoia"...i stopped him and asked about that, he said they just got them in a few days ago. Since I had only reserved a full size and knew a Sequoia was in the large SUV category, I asked if there was any extra charge. He said no, so I grabbed one with only 161 miles on it. Four-Wheel drive..no leather, but sunroof, dual climate control in front and back, definitely worth the money to rent.

First time using Natl, their advertising works--I wanted to pick my own car, plain and simple.

Seven AM, apparently the porters hadn't gotten everything in order because there was no 'Emerald Row', to speak of. I asked the attendant for something with a 'southeast' plate (I'm weird, but my money's green, lol). She coughs up a 2013 Tahoe with Tennessee plates, I was a happy boy. There was another TN Tahoe besides mine, strangely.

Very nice car for going to KC and back on I-29. If the price is right, I'll be back.

In another thread, we discussed some rental car registration shenanigans with TN plates, especially if it says Blount County.

Thanks, I'm going to scrounge up that thread. My car had Cumberland County plates, I took a look at Wikipedia and there ain't much in that county!

For some reason, Luxury cars were on sale last Friday, I reserved one with the hopes of getting a Lincoln MKZ, I roll up Fri AM and the nice lady offers me a Navigator (way too big) or a Mustang (Luxury?)

I ask if I can check out the rows, I found a Mazda CX-5 FWD. I've seen AWD here before but I have no need. Arkansas plates (I've mentioned before that I like out-of-the-area plates, especially southeast ones.) Got out of the lot with a rate reduction and a fantastic car. CX-5 is my new favorite 30 MPG no problem @ 72 MPH on I-29.

Has anyone been to this location lately? I haven't been here for a year, but it appears that they've done away with the Aisle here. No bueno.

AFAIK, Omaha was never a aisle location. I've been renting from them for four years and it's been the same setup (virtual aisle may work on app now). They are about to bulldoze the facility and build a new one though.

The booth folks are nice and if you're looking for something in particular just talk to them.

Virtual Isle is definitely active here, although I did not have cellular data getting off the plane so I could not use it. Going out to the lot I asked for the best Executive Isle sedans they had (my girlfriend's mother is wheelchair-bound, so comfort is preferred if possible), and I was told a Chrysler 300C, Cadillac XTS, or Ford Fusion. We took the Cadillac and the entire family found it very enjoyable. It even had Android Auto which I was not expecting but am very familiar with since I use it daily in my own car.

Rented a couple times here since they moved to the remote lot due to construction. Virtual Aisle didn’t work either time, but was basically offered my pick of the lot both times. Snagged a Cadillac Sedan the first time, and an X3 this last time. Definitely were more luxury type cars on the lot, those were just the first I saw that piqued my interest so I took them. Midsize reservation for both.

Thanks for the insight. And that's good to know. Looks like it's sitll in the remote lot there's no get in and go aisle at this location.

I'll be in OMA for the first time as a national renter in May and so will report back with any updates. Hope for a good upgrade. I've got a friends re-union gathering in this area.
