BMW 5-series now at National!

Parked in the Specialty (paid upgrade) section at DTW last night, a striking black 2012 BMW 528i with North Carolina plates. Way to go National!

Have a luxury res for IAD in two weeks and am praying I can snag one. Am EE so that might help my cause.

Awesome. I am hoping for LAX, even though I've love the G37s in the EE lanes.

dr: how much was the paid upgrade? I had an agent tell me at DFW that I needed at least $100/day to rent out a new 3 series.

$100 for a 3-series? That's highway robbery! Lower end FXAR/GXARs you can usually snag (YMMV, depends on station) with a luxury res, provided no Executive VIPs have the car reserved.

My National rental was several weeks ago, and it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $25-50/day surcharge IIRC. Ironically, also had a 5-series at Avis for $15/day.

To help your future negotiations, Avis charges $113.99/day for a 5-series rental (surprisingly cheap I think, considering Hertz charges much more for its E-class Benzes).
