Best use of 110K Capital One points?

I thought I'd start a new thread where we could discuss the different ways to use the large amount of Cap1 points many of us 'hopefully' will be receiving. Many of us are Cap1 novices and would appreciate some guidance.

Maybe someone could post an award chart or other pertinent info. Cap1 experts, please chime in.

Hopefully this will keep the BIG thread from getting a lot bigger.

I know that you can cash in 10,000 points for $100.

I think this means you're rich if you have 110,000.

Is this a 1099 situation?

Can Capital One miles be converted to other Airline miles like AA or UA?

No. They aren't 'miles' but scrip.

In Other CCs Forum, mia did great work in this thread and listed some related CapOne discussion threads altogether:

Venture card by Capital one

If I am reading it right, it appears CapOne points are similar to Flexpoints w/ US Bank and/or Chase Freedom rewards. It's not on the same level of "convertiblity" as say Amex SPG.

To convert to cash, you get 50% value so you would only get $550

Isn't the real question -- What ways can I use 110K Capital One points that buys me more than $1,100 of travel?

Otherwise, aren't you inviting people to suggest flying 2 people in coach to Paris in the dead of winter, flying a family of four to the Magic Kingdom in the summer, staying 1 night at the Park Plaza, etc.?

But we thought you were asking for 110K Capital One points, as in the thread title?

110K x 0.01 x 50% = $550

Could one use leftover points for full Y (refundable ticket) for exchange/later use.

If there are points left over after 11-12 months (before annual fee becomes due) and wants to cancel, could a person buy a fully refundable airline ticket and refund it later?

Say if there are 60K pts left, why not buy a full Y ticket (or more) and use it for later. Of course, one has to be able to redeem it online or do ticket by mail if one wants to exchange them.

Could you not just by airline gift cards and get reimbursed?

If you fly southwest you can always buy a southwest ticket, get the reimbursement from Cap1, then cancel the southwest ticket for full credit.

I think I read somewhere that buying GC takes a 33% hit. You get $67 in GC for each $100 in Cap1 scrip. Not positive though.
