Cool Life-long Senator status [merged lifetime SEN]

As I am not sure, if the rules in Switzerland apply also for german based members, I start this discussion here too (did it originally about the swiss conditions in the swiss forum).

what are the german (and others) current conditions to become live-long Senator member?

here are what I today learned about members based in Switzerland (open questions remain about how, if any, former swiss Travelclub status miles and top-tier status might be counted ...):

live-long Senator status (not sure if exactly the same conditions are also for german based members)

(swiss based members) must be all of the following:

* over 60 years of age (not 65 as I thought so far)
* 1 Million miles&more status miles accrued (they could not answer my question if former swiss status miles would in future be counted too)
* 10 years of uniterrupted Senator status (they could not answer my question if former swiss top-tier-status would be counted)

and the member must apply himself, as their database will not automatically show the fulfilled criterias.

(from an interview today dec-8-2005 at the LH office, Gutenberstrasse, Zurich)

I was told that this was a one time thing for the 10yr aneversary of LH MM ... so it would be new to me if the rules are true

the 10th anniversary was the introduction date for 'live long Senator status', but ever since then that status can be reached by anyone, everywhere (what I am not sure about is, if the rules are the same everywhere).

Rudi, in theory this would mean that someone would have only have had to have qualified 5 times for SEN status, every 2 years? correct?

correct for the 10 years, but plus 1 Million status miles acquired, plus being over age 60.

Is this lifetime/life long or live long?
For the live-long Senator status it's probably just: live a healthy
lifestyle, don't enjour any dangerous hobbies, and do not show any diseases ..
plus fly enough to stay SEN.
As for the eternal SEN level - it only surfaced once in LH's Exclusive magazine,
so they can probably grant it at leisure. But it doesn't look as if it was a human
or SEN right.

not yet ... I only became a first time Senator in sept-1999 (before I did concentrate of maintaining UA 1K status) - so in 2009 it should work out ... (I already requalified until feb-2008, will have to requalify in either 2006 or 2007 to make another prolongation of my Senator status).

Will I get life-time SEN status once I am 60 ?

I have been a SEN for 10 years now, clocked up about 1,8 million status miles to date but am only 34.
(remember: at the start of M&M there was no differentiation between bonus miles & status miles)

Shouldn't LH be offering life-time SEN for x-million milers anyway, regadless of age ?

That would be nice if they do. Would incentivise me more to *A instead of spreading out so much.

By the time you get 60, you'll probably receive SEN retirement benefits too!

Then all your flying - much like the mine - was in vain. SEN since 9 years,
status good till 2008, 1.68M miles and nothing to be had from it ..

Yes they should. I am to my lifetime Premier Exec next year ^ .

You fly too much. And you don't have enough fun.

That is only partially true . I really enjoy flying United and will be a lifetime Premier Executive
early next year.
And I would not say no to lifetime SEN level should anyone ever offer it to me.
