I didn't look next year, I was able to find some dates in November of this year. For example, Nov 10 - 14. Next year isn't showing any lower priced options but my response was to the fare being dead.

For the same price you quoted, it's not valid for outbound travel next year.

Hainan (HU) R6MAUS
PERMITTED 24AUG 16 THROUGH 09DEC 16 OR 26DEC 16 THROUGH 30APR 17 ON THE OUTBOUND TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR.

VALID FOR TRAVEL COMMENCING DEPARTURE OF OUTBOUND TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR ON/BEFORE 31DEC 16.
They may extend the dates though.

A friend of mine wanted to tagalong on my mileage run to Changsha in February. Unfortunately the fare went from $1660 to $3,400.

Any chance the fair will drop back down?

Figures... I hate doing this mileage run alone (it's miserable for a white guy) and finally got someone to come, and the price goes up. Murphy's law....

Will they extend the sale back into February?

I see a handful of dates in March for about $1500USD on Sichuan.
No minimum stay.

I don't want Sichuan Air, I want Hainan. Trust me I ain't goin' to Changsha for the smoggy scenery.

Just curious: Presumably it's miserable for anyone who isn't Chinese, right? Or is the difficulty of the sort that another demographic (say, African, Arab, S. Asian, etc.) wouldn't experience?
