Once you fly the first segment, you MAY BE ABLE to change the flights, if you try to do so before you fly the first segment, this will reprice. Some people are not able to make any changes even after the first flight is taken without getting repriced at $2000-3000+

Depending where exactly you're starting/ending and how fast you walk, you can generally get from TPE T1 <-> T2 airside in 10-20 minutes. Don't know the transfer specifics, have only flown into/out of there.

I dont think this is true. Have you done this? I have tried using AA SWU on a ticket issued by BA and they told me that it could not be done. Also, if you search on oneworld, it will tell you that they dont have partnering upgrades. As far as I'm aware, all JL tickets have the transpac on AA and vice versa, so it seems that it won't work. Would someone that actually did this provide a data point?

The only restriction on the fare was that the tpac flight had to have JL code. It could be either AA or JL operated. I imagine a JL operated flight with JL code would be upgradeable via JL, but AA flights with JL code cannot be upgraded by any means.

Appreciate the response, but i still don't think this is right. Appreciate everyone offering their insight and interpretation of rules, but without any confirmed responses,I am going to assume it is not possible.

If you are on an AA flight, which had to have JL code for this fare as per the fare rules, then you are correct, upgrades are not possible. That's not an interpretation of the rule, but that IS the rule for AA upgrades, confirmed all over the AA forums -- at least unless an agent makes an exception for you, which apparently is possible on the day of departure, but many (most?) will not.

For JL flight with JL code, I don't know the JL rules, so I can't answer definitively. But it was possible to get JL flights with JL code on JL stock, so I'd say that's likely upgradeable.

I have tickets issued by AA with JL flight numbers for NRT-DFW and DFW-NRT legs and somehow I have been able to waitlist SWU using codeshare PNR.. that PNR also has AA flight number which allowed me to select MCE seats too..crossing my fingers if SWU upgrade is really gonna work

Quick report with 131 stock tickets from sakura lounge at NRT.

There is no problem at all with this ticket. Of course it is treated as Y so I could use the business class check in counter and lounges without any JAL/OW status.

TPE: JAL uses legend vip lounge. It's not good as More Premium lounge at the same terminal except massage chair.

NRT:
Sakura lounge near transfer security.
It's like a subset of main lounge with limited food and no shower. But agents are really nice. They told me main lounge facilities and booked a massage in main lounge. They also suggested me to move and take a shower before it gets crowded.

Main sakura lounge : Slots of massage seem limited. It took 3 hours to get massage after booking but it is much better than machine massage.

My ticket finally cleared.

I have had luck with with my 131 stock pre first flight, complete routing change except I made sure to keep the first leg and of course the same destination for the same dates.

I went from TSA-HND/NRT-DFW(layover)-PBI-DFW-NRT/HND-TSA to TSA-HND/NRT-BOS(layover)-CLT-PBI-DFW-NRT/HND-TSA

It caused a tax reprice of about $30 USD per person but the fare stayed the same and I was rebooked into the same full fare Y. They were even willing to put me on B6 for a connecting segment but I opted to stay on AA for the miles.

Took a decent amount of time to get a response back from JAL per what #518 said.

Based on sgan317's experience. Should I be able to change TPE-KIX-LAX-SJC(layover)SJC-LAX-KIX-TPE to TPE-KIX-LAX-AUS (layover) AUS-LAX-KIX-TPE? I booked on Expedia 131 stock.

I'm combining this ticket with an award flight booked to Japan so unfortunately,I'll be flying from KIX to TPE and back to use this ticket. There is no way around that, right? It seems that I need to keep the first leg as is.

When I return to Asia, I plan to get off in KIX and fly to southeast Asia. Is there a way I can route this ticket to get me to BKK (actually trying to get to Mynamar but most of the flights are in/out of BKK) somehow?

Thanks in advance!

You should not be able to make that change. You MUST go to SJC. You May be able to book TPE-KIX-LAX-AUS-SJC-LAX-KIX-TPE but they could call you out for not following the direction of the ticket by adding the AUS leg and say no. But remember this is going to affect your Maximum Permitted Milage. Your MPM is only 30% higher than the direct routing.

As for your return. Your SOL. You need to fly on JAL and have it ticketed to end in TPE even if your going to dump off it later. There physically isn't a way for you to fly JAL and go from KIX-BKK-TPE on JAL you could ticket KIX-BKK-NRT-TPE but they again will probably say your violating the direction of the ticket and it would probably put you wayy over the MPM.

Great news indeed. Was yours ticketed on jal or OTA on 131 stock? Did you have to HUCA a few times?

Finally I succeeded rerouting before 1st leg by calling JAL US with my 131 stock ticket.
I added two stopovers and paid airport tax.

BTW my JL coded B6 flight delayed over 3 hours Jetblue created travel bank account and credited $125 for me.
Im not US citizen and have no chane to buy Jetblue ticket in a year.
Is it possible to sell or exchange $125 credit?
