AA ORD-SWF segment run, $147/5 - October Tuesdays
For those of you qualifying on AA on segments...
ORD-CLT-PHL-SWF, long layover, SWF-PHL-ORD.
Most October Tuesdays. Requires a 5am-ish departure from ORD to get three eastbound segments, which kills it for me on a Tuesday.
ORD is $147. Some other cities (IND, BOS, DCA, DFW) are under $200 with less availability.
And the best part is no CRJ-200s.

You can only get 3 segments eastbound and only with that 5:30am flight, the schedules don't work westbound.

2 one ways
So thanks for the segment info. My only hope to maintain Plat status on AA is to get to 60 segments this year. Do you book this as two one ways then? I got your google itinerary going east, but the whole thing only cost $147 (all 5 segments)?

I think you can book all 5 segments in one ticket. It was $147 the last I looked from Chicago, closer to $170-$200 from the other cities mentioned. There's about a 4 hour layover at SWF, which is not a big airport. I didn't ticket it because the 5:30am weekday flight in combination with the layover killed it for me, that's a 2:30am alarm clock from where I live.

Was playing around with this out of BOS or PVD. Found a 5-segment run (2500 miles to AS) on July 4th for $143:

Mental Gymnastics or Good tools
So curious how any of you found this segment runs? Just perpetual playing around with options or are there better tools or ways to find these type of combinations? I think its pretty interesting, but curious how you do it

Whoa Nick, that's pretty legit matrix mojo. Gets my wheels turning...with just a bit of python and client side scripting, we could have ourselves an automated segment searcher...

I use matrix.itasoftware.com and force it to do 3 AA flights on a one-way and do a one month search. I put in about 10 airports as a time for the destination.
