Nh: Sfo/lax/ord/nyc - nrt - pnh rt $427

Didn't see this. Cheap RTs to PNH scattered throughout until at least January, mostly Wednesday and Thursday departures.

JFK - NRT - PNH roundtrip (with nice long afternoons in Tokyo on both layovers) comes out to a little under $430 in L, which should earn 50% and full PQM on United. The full RT is 18990 miles giving you between 2.2 and 4.4cpm depending on what you're after.

Google link, this one is for JFK out SFO in

EDIT: Looks like you can stretch the layover in Tokyo into a stopover for an extra $100 - at least that's how Google is pricing it.

SFO-NRT-BKK-PNH-NRT-LAX-SFO also works USD457.25.

flown mile 16891. 30% 5067 for NH. 50% 8445 for UA.

Need to check earning from BKK-PHN whch is operated by Bangkok airways.

Does anyone have advice on how to spend the night between 10:30pm HND arrival and 10:30am NRT departure next morning? The timing is inconvenient enough that it seems infeasible to see anything in Tokyo very much. Cost of a hotel reduces the appeal of this deal - but maybe there are clever options about how to pass the time?

And on the way back, 7am arrival NRT, then departure 5pm NRT kind of suggests not leaving NRT.

You could take public transportation from HND down into Shinjuku. It will be packed though since that is around the last time that trains run.

I would probably stay at a capsule hotel ($30-$60 USD if I am not mistaken). Its a unique experience and being right in Shinjuku, there should be plenty to do at night too.

Looks like open jaws are allowable, prices out to $40-100 depending on destination.

For instance: SFO-PNH / HKG - LAX

When you arrive in HND, take the train to NRT and get a hotel in NRT. Those are usually mattress-runnable.

There is definitely a thread (or several) on "what to do for X hours in NRT" in the Destinations forum.

You may arrive too late for the last train to Narita, see www.hyperdia.com. Last train from Tokyo station to Narita departs 23:37. You'll probably need to find something in Tokyo.

If you can get to Narita (city), there is a Mercure close to the station that is reasonable.

I booked this for May of 2017 NYC-NRT-PNH // BKK--NRT-NYC for $397

Planning on taking a bus down to Ho Chi Minh and then a cheap flight up to BKK.

Just a friendly reminder that visa on arrival is not valid for land border crossings into Vietnam. You will need to have a visa for Vietnam already in your passport to arrive via a land crossing.

Vietnam Visa on Arrival is only valid at Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi or Da Nang airports.

Happy travels everyone who is on this deal.
