[FARE GONE] DL $450 ord-nrt rt
Cheap flights to Tokyo are back! It looks like DL is now attacking AA's/UA's hub in ORD now. Good for select dates in March, April and May.

edit: Just found $436 same day turns

I booked Mar25-Apr3 on Feb20 ORD-MSP-NRT/NRT-DTW-ORD for $550 when ORD-NRT was first found for AA/UA. Strangely, I had to click through google/flights to DL to find the fare. A general search for the exact dates on DL.com did not get me the price.
I just went to check my dates (5 minutes ago) and the price is over $2000 on DL.com, which made me feel better. Searching on google/flight, I see only Thursday and Sunday departures get this $450 price. For friday departures, the price go up to $500. I tried my dates (Mar25-Apr3) again on google/flight and it actually priced out a Delta-only operated itinerary for $550 for those dates! So, once again, searching on DL yield a high price ($2210.46 as the lowest), while google click-through got me $549.96. (one connection in MSP both ways)

AA still over $1600 out of ORD but same day turns out of MKE (3/22) $635. The funny part is you fly MKE/ORD/NRT and return for less than ORD/NRT?

Come on DL, UA has a big hub at IAH and AA has a big hub at DFW, both are just begging to be attacked!
And it would be nice if you wanted to attack them at AUS too .

is this one of those delta fares where, regardless of status, you get no benefits, no seat assignment and, as you board, you are told to avert your eyes because they can't stand to look at you- then they tell you you're a disgrace and take away your carry-on, saying they need to gate check it for a fee of $100? just curious...
oh, i forgot... all whilst secret shoppers from UA and AA take copious notes.

I'm up for this. I'm booking one for a MR and one for a bit of stay in Tokyo. I've changed planes in NRT a few times but have never had the opportunity to stay and explore. I'm in MSP but am booking the fare out of ORD.
Note: I couldn't book the same day turn online. Each time the Delta site would show the sub $500 fare and then it would increase to $900 - $1200 when attempting to purchase. I called the Delta Plat line and the agent was able to put it through.
