Reminder that a Visa is needed, and it is a PITA to get. (At least, within the Miami consulate's jurisdiction it is.)

PITA is right. Was booking a trip then realized it would take weeks to months to clear a visa. Good thing I could cancel that trip.

It's worth the effort though as it's good for 10 years of travel to Brazil!

I just came to post on here and saw this thread - I'm doing this on 12/5-12/6 for $621 (4.25cpm on my routing) - not bad for this late in the year.

I have ~12 hours in GRU - any tips on anything to do?!

Agreed for US citizens, but UK passport comes in handy here!

If you can use the SF Brazilian consulate, I know a guy who can get you a visa in a week (because he did it for me). Other visa services were estimating 90+ days. Cost $175, though. So that might negate the savings on the air ticket! Unless you foresee that you'll have to go to Brazil for some reason.

That's a killer deal. You can get a more straightforward connection (hence fewer miles) for around $650 in late January. Still a very good deal. Very tempted. And I have a visa.
