Let's break this down. If you book on United you have to take a leg on LH intra-Europe. No problem except United.com only offers LH segments booked in 'K' class which earns 0 miles.
United booked flights costing $628 (cheapest I can find):
SFO-IAD-FRA-GOT will earn 12,998 PQM (2,419 for SFO-IAD, 4,080 for IAD-FRA and 0 for FRA-GOT -- all 2x for round trip). Award miles are based on $498 airfare: 2,490 for members, 3,486 for silver, 3,984 for gold, 4,482 for platinum and 5,478 for 1K/GS.
"Other" booked flights for LX costing $620 (cheapest I can find):
SFO-GVA-GOT booked in K and L classes outbound and return, respectively. These classes earn 0 PQM in United. Award miles are given at 50% for K & L classes plus elite bonuses. Therefore, it's 6,563 for members, 8,204 for silver, 9,845 for gold, 11,485 for platinum and 13,126 for 1K/GS.
Don't even attempt to do this on LH metal/ticket. That will earn 0 miles across the board as "K" class earns no PQM and no RDM in United MP.
So you have to ask yourself if you're doing this for award miles, elite miles or some combination of both. If award miles then Swiss is the clear winner. If for elite miles then you have to take the longest routing you can find on United. If for the combo of both then you also have to go with United IMO. But each flyer has to choose. There are benefits to not booking on United, especially if you are looking for award miles and are willing to give up the elite qualifying.

That's a false statement. You will absolutely still earn miles if you do not book this through United. (EDIT: maybe you meant "Elite qualifying" miles?)

Miles have just posted for China Air marketed Priceline purchased (NOT via bidding) all UA / UAX metal:
Full EQM, full PQ$, and the pittance RDM that the low booking class offers.
Just flew SFO-PVG and it was almost tolerable
