Done this before when there was CPU. Not so bad if you have lounge access. Arrive back to gate early as you will need to answer all the security questions missed at the regular check-in area if you plan to spend the night in the secure side of SIN.

wow, that's quite low. i thought i had a good deal at ~212 just for a short visit there while out in HK (applied a 125 cert too, which made dropped it even more). Not MR worthy, but a good price regardless.

Neither flights are good. The departing flight arrives ~midnight SIN time. As you said, the price is about the same as budget airlines... Regular price with UA is ~$100 more.

Thanks Pat89339. I agree they are difficult times at best. Nothing like the contrast between UA and SQ service. I was surprised how different the reverse fare was, 400+ sin-hkg-sin. I'm flying dfw-hkg and sin is my final destination so this was a perfect find for me. It's a hundred less than MH and Jetstar. I guess UA is trying to out budget the budget airlines?

The fare is good and has been here for a few weeks which was useful for overnight turns in Dec to get status (cheapest flight to get decent UA cpm yield on *A carriers in econ leaving HKG for overnight turn). All of these fares are K or G so far, so cannot upgrade using GPU at least.
