DL: JFK-AUS-SLC $199 ai 4.3 cpm or JFK-SLC-AUS $207ai 3.4 cpm
DL: JFK-AUS-SLC-JFK (direct on the way back) ~$199ai (V)
4,587 miles - 4.34 cpm, it's not great, but it's decent if you need an end of year MR out of NYC. Also, no redeye!
Decent weekday availability in November.

I was wondering how you got a scheduled connecting flight in AUS on DL - but this looks like a $200 rt JFK-AUS (not JFK-SLC), so the AUS-SLC-JFK part is just the return.

maybe...i did multi-city search JFK-SLC with AUS as the connection on the outbound. SLC-JFK direct on the return. Delta flight map recognizes SLC and my "destination", not AUS.
I hadnt thought about that - if AUS is really the destination you could do JFK-SLC-AUS-SLC-JFK, I'm assuming this is what you are referring to Rene? This prices out as you mentioned - I'm getting $208 for 6134 miles, 3.4 cpm (with a redeye)
I may have to cancel and switch...

I booked JFK-SLC-AUS-SLC-JFK a few minutes ago - regular old round trip booked on dl.com, filtered to "one stop" with AUS as the connection point.
If this makes a difference to anyone...the longer booking with JFK-SLC legs is telling me that "UPGRADE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME". That might be because of my FO status, but it sure would suck to sit in the back on the redeye return. On the shorter trip, all legs show medallion upgrade requested

woops, didnt realize you are probably trying to run this in reverse. I see $238 (.39 cpm) on 11/19 but its awkward flights, you are on the redeye outbound to NYC and then fly back to AUS during the next day. Basically kills 2 weekdays

With a NYC overnight and starting at Kayak.com sending you to DL you can get 4.4CPM out of AUS

The original routing I found - JFK-AUS-SLC-JFK only has 1 extra hop...i thinks thats a close as you are going to get for a decent price. First flight out at 7, land before midnight same day.

FWIW, if anyone ever finds a valid DL routing with connecting flight in AUS, let me know! It perpetually kills any chance of an add-on one-way on award tickets.

Can SLC only be a layover or can it be turned into the equivalent of a stopover (maybe an overnight layover)? I'm one of the few who actually want to go to SLC, and any time on the ground in AUS is precious time I'm not in SLC. (I'm also one of the few who wants the SLC-JFK redeye, but it's because I have friends working at the airport around then.)
