UA DEN-SGN $912.40 20,980 4.3CPM (SEA too)

UA DEN-EWR-SGN (booking with DEN-EWR-HKG-SGN took fare up $200) Traveling 10/8-10/12. Routing through SFO is also available but not as solid of a CPM.

There are immediate turnarounds available but i can't stand traveling that far and not getting to explore a bit!

--Spoke with agent last night and was told to call in after the flight and MP would credit me the mileage not received due to "hidden city" (route doesn't include HKG but does land and change planes)

Booked a ticket for my friend to join me SEA-SFO-HKG-SGN RT at 900.40 for 17,032 which is 5.28 CPM. Def not the best CPM out of SEA but decent for a nice trip.

You might want to include the airline, either in the body or the title of the post

on ITA, it looks like it's a UA fare. DL prices out at ~$5400

Huh? Are you saying it tickets XXX-SFO-SGN W/ a stop in HKG? That isn't a "Hidden City"

Also: X SAN this is sub $900.

flight Tix DEN-EWR-SGN

The hidden piece is what united kept calling it. It was preventing me from selecting seats on two of the flights bc the system viewed EWR-SGN as one flight as was SGN-EWR.

This is a thread on it.. http://milepoint.com/forums/threads/...mileage.33389/

This is called a 'direct' flight.

Hidden city ticketing is a completely different term.

OP is saying that the customer reps at the airline are calling it 'hidden'. That is different from the FT term. It isn't a 'hidden city' as per the FT lexicon but he is saying the agents used that term to describe why he couldn't select seats for the flight/flights because their system sees it as a direct flight even though it lands and would need two separate reservations for seating.

DEN-SGN $912.40 20,980 4.3CPM (SEA too)

Not to dampen your excitement but sub 900 fares are a norm to SGN. I just booked a $746 PHX-ORD-HKG-SGN-HKG-EWR-PHX for Oct 3 - OCt 7

The rep is wrong, and no it is not a FT term or slang - read the COC of any airline (in this case UA)...it's their term not ours.

UA agents are known to make stickup all the time. Esp CO Agents.

Simply put, this is not hidden city

The transit city was not fully visible, essentially it was hidden from some processes. Yet it wasn't a Hidden City, merely a hidden city.

As everyone else has already rightly called out - this is not a hidden city. It is simply a through/direct flight from EWR-HKG-SGN.

The issue is the OP is wrong about getting credit. UA will not credit for EWR-HKG and HKG-SGN separately if it is booked as a through flight. Unfortunately anyone claiming ORC (original routing credit) for this will be rightfully denied and should not expect extra miles.

The difference amounts to 104 miles (8886 EWR-SGN vs 8990 EWR-HKG-SGN). This should not be used in calculations for CPM and instead the direct EWR-SGN at 8886 should be.
