Paying Cook County property tax in cash/coins?
I'm partaking a bit in the "dollars coins from the mint paid by credit card with free shipping" program.
Semi-annual Cook County property tax payments are due in about a month.
Has anyone ever tried to pay the tax with cash? Any problems? Will they likely freak out if I show up at the local county building with a two-wheeler loaded down with dollar coins?
I guess I could call them, but what fun would that be?

Can't you pay property taxes at any Chase bank location? If so, I don't see any reason why you couldn't pay in coins.

Bring your van load of wrapped mint dollars down here to Harris Bank in Flossmoor, dude. Give me a call so I can watch the fun.

Why would you let thousands build up anyway? If you're churning for rewards, you should be taking the coins down to the bank to deposit immediately anyway.

I have been tempted to do this, but I think I'm just going to do a check instead.
I have *always* paid in person at a Chase branch and get a receipt. Out of principle, I'm not going to pay the $1 the county wants to pay online, and I don't trust the county to just drop a check in the mail.
