This is YMMV, please make sure you bank support this feature on their app.
BoA, only android ref ref
Chase ref
Simple ref
Santender ref

*beware of DCC by some banks if you are able to deposit "non-supported currency" ref

                      Known Issues

"LIMIT NOT APPROVED" check you daily limit as it tend to fluctuate.
"CASH DEPOSIT TIMEOUT" you need to close the app and reopen it after you clear the cache.
"DEPOSIT PENDING REVIEW" you probably deposited the same bill(s) before, it will probably be returned as NSF
"CASH NOT AVAILABLE" or "ANTIQUE DEPOSIT DETECTED" most likely you are depositing the old-style bills, make sure you use the new bills.
"UNKNOWN OBJECT" you deposited a $2, just buy a money order and deposit it instead.

No reports yet, but its likely** to happen.

**do not deposit the same bill more than once or you might get fired by your bank.

                      Wink

I have some Turkish Lira that I need to deposit. Do any of these apps allow depositing of foreign currencies? That would be very helpful.

Also want to make sure I get a good exchange rate.

                      Thanks in advance.

I hear Chase does, but they hit you with DCC. Best to just drop in the ATM.

There is no such thing as making a mobile (phone) cash deposit. The places that may "offer" that option will instruct you to purchase a money order and deposit that.

A mobile check deposit works because the bank sends that image to the Federal Reserve to be cleared. If you send them a picture of a $100 bill how would the bank actually get the money?

Can't they run it through the same system? Each money order has a unique serial number just as each $100 bill has a unique serial number.

No that system doesn't exist for currency. If it did the cash would have to be removed from the banking system each time.

Yes, it does. I have the app on my phone.
                      Works like a charm.

You have an app on your phone that lets you take an picture of and deposit cash to a bank account? Don't think so.

AnalystGuy – you need to do more reading on this forum. Mobile cash deposits was discussed several times in this forum and data points indicate that there is a way. PM if you need additional info since we don’t want bloggers announcing it to the world.
