Zanzibar is just magical regardless of where you stay! We stayed at the Doubletree at Nungwi and got upgraded to a room right on the beach as a Hilton Gold then at Breezes - gorgeous but you can't choose room location in advance and then Emerson Palace in Stonetown - definitely should stay a couple of night in Stonetown!

Is it unreasonable to stay in one hotel in Zanzibar for the week, and see all of these other places on day trips? Can you rent an SUV to get around? Taxi? Bicycles?

Not sure what the exact budget is, but The Residence is cheaper than Mnemba Island.

Friends just stayed at Kilindi and very much enjoyed it. You should definitely add it to your list.

Aren't Stanford round 1 admission decisions not due for another couple of months?

Still confused. Stanford (and Haas) admissions decisions never come out before December.

Not the right forum for this so I'll drop it.

Perhaps I got in one year ago and delayed it by one year due to new job.

Park Hyatt Zanzibar is very boutique (67 keys), a little gem. Was well managed until recently by a German GM, Marcela Herrendoerfer, who appears to have left Hyatt after she finished her contract there. I really wonder if it is still as good these days, service-wise.

Congrats!

I've got a friend who went to PH Zanzibar last year and really enjoyed it, but don't have much additional feedback beyond that.

Im leaning towards The Residence.

The problem I have with PH is that the room category I want, villa w private pool, is never avail!
