Amanjena Marrakesh closure dates for renovations

Amanjena will be closed for four months, start 7 June 2015 and reopening 17 October 2015. I haven't seen this posted anywhere else and wanted to pass it along.

Any info as to what will be updated? Just maintenance? Hoping for an Aman Spa...

Interesting... I am eager to see/hear what they have planned... we have a visit scheduled for March... though some family issues may push it to May... (or push us to Amanzoe or Amanruya...)

There was a nice Aman Spa even years ago with a relaxation area facing the golf course .
The orange trees must be very mature now .

Astrid K from Ruya was promoted to Resident Manager at Jena this spring

FlyerEC I do know there is Spa, but frankly it's an older design, it's not considered an Aman Spa and, quite frankly, shouldn't be considered as such. I think it can't keep up with other Spas in the area, in terms of... everything? Hardware, therapists, command of English, ...

TravelK Thanks!

Yes scented , agreed , as stated that ' s years ago , & was ahead of its time then . But way back there was no such thing as an Aman Spa
That ' s why with so many new attractive ' choices ' in the vicinity , Jena is being refreshed & not too soon .
Even now , there are Amans with no spas , let alone an Aman Spa . Some owners have not made a move here even after much discussion

Jena is such a classic design, especially compared to the new kids like Palais Namaskar, which has this horrific faux-Moroccan nightclub vibe to it. The expansion or addition of a proper spa is just what this place needs. Has bugged me for years and about time as Marrakech aims to become a spa destination.

This might be more appropriate for the general Amanresorts thread, at the risk of re-starting the celebrity endorsement / Doronin discussion

Aman never had the money for a proper spa, but they did have the plans. I heard, allegedly, that Ed Tuttle didn't want to do it and that the new people were asking various architects if they would, so yes, part of the work will include a proper spa.

I just hope they don't offer colonic irrigation, which is, allegedly, something that Mr Doronin is rather fond of as part of his 'wellness' thinking.

well I heard the details.. they are calling it a refurbishment not a renovation...
- changing the Thai Restauarant to Japanese
- additional of a Kids/Family pool
- one additional room (new type I think) bringing total rooms to 39...
