Another cover story this week on Lanai. What does all this mean going forward?

Any recent reports on either Four Seasons Lanai during the transformation & construction work? How is the work affecting the guest experience at FS Manele? Have they started work at FS Lodge?

FS had announced that the transformed Nobu would debut in October. Any updates on a specific date?

Four Seasons Manele Bay Update

Rooms in the West Wing are schedule to be completed and ready to receive the first guests on October 20.

Enhancement work on the East Wing is scheduled to begin in January, but they don't have an exact date. They do expect a bit of noise but will manage it the best they can.

In the early stages of the West Wing rooms enhancement, there was some noise. They most likely will experience similar disruption but they will do their best to minimize it.

The owner is concentrating on Manele only right now. The Lodge most likely will be enhanced in 2016...at least that is what they know right now.

Regarding Nobu, October is still completion month but no specific date...hopefully will coincide with West Wing rooms debut on Oct 20.

One thing's for sure, this will be a magnificent resort when the work is complete.

Thank you so much Linda for the informative post. You answered all my questions. ^^ From reports I've read on FT, TA, and Chowhound, the construction has not had a significant negative impact on guest experience.

Lodge at Koele to close in January to expedite Manele Bay reno's

Currently, one wing of FS Lodge at Koele is dedicated to the reno team of Manele Bay. Starting January 2015, the Lodge at Koele will close temporarily to the public so that the work at Manele Bay can be expedited.

From Four Seasons today:

Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

We are currently undergoing a transformation at Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, paving the way for the resort to offer the highest standards of hospitality, highly personalized service and innovative enhancements to guests who appreciate only the very best. A number of enhancements have been already unveiled including new restaurants ONE FORTY, VIEWS, and NOBU LANAI, redesigned guest rooms and suites, high-end retail stores, a renovated clubhouse and spa, the addition of a luxury transfer fleet and an exclusive airport lounge in Honolulu with continued investments planned to position the property as a premier resort. Our East Wing renovations are anticipated to begin in early January.

In order to expedite work, The Lodge at Koele will be dedicated to our transformation team from January 5, 2015. To that, the rooms and dining outlets at The Lodge at Koele will not be available for general reservations. We do understand the inconvenience this may cause and will be reaching out to those directly impacted immediately with solutions to this situation. As always, you can reach the hotel directly at [email protected]. The Lodge at Koele looks forward to receiving guests for the Festive 2015 season. Until then, we will continue to welcome visitors to the island paradise of Lanai where they can experience the transformation that has been completed to date at our newly redesigned sister property, the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay.

Annoying because I had a reservation there in January. It sounds like Manele might be undesirable because of construction noise during that time. Any advice on whether we should take them up on the offer to move to Manele, or completely cancel the Lanai part of our trip? This definitely throws a big wrench in our plans.....

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Manele Bay. Second time at the property. the renovations so far are beautiful! The construction noise was limited, and not something we noticed unless we were walking near it in the middle of the day. Nothing during sleeping hours at all.

The stay was wonderful and the addition of Nobu is great. It was all very relaxing.

The only complaint I have, I did not notice until the last two days. The area near the concierge smells heavily of mildew. The first day I smelled it, I thought it might be that something had spilled. The next day, the smell was the same, and clearly part of the area. Should be easy to get on top of.

The pool and beach staff were awesome. Will definitely be back!
