Top Luxury Hotels in the World

Hi everybody,

I think it has been a while since there has been a thread like this one (about the top global luxury hotels).

Everybody should share some of their best experiences and top hotels/resorts they've ever been too. Whatever they are from city hotels to
resorts to ski resorts.

Feel free to write a couple of hotels, or even just one 😄

To get started here is my list:
City Hotels:
1) The Peninsula Hong Kong
2) The Ritz Paris
3) Four Seasons George V
4) The Peninsula Bangkok
5) Four Seasons Florence
6) Connaught London
7) Aman Venice
8) Four Seasons New York
9) The Ritz Carlton Tokyo
10) The Peninsula Shanghai

Resorts:
1) Amanjiwo
2) Amanpulo
3) Amansara
4) Amanusa
5) Amanoi
6) Amanzoe
7) FS Tented Camp
8) Singita Boulders
9) Amankila
10) Cheval Blanc Maldives

Looking forward to reading your lists!
Alex 😄😄

What is "best" for me might not be "best" for another. So there is no definitive answer. Different strokes for different people. And we look for different things in luxury hotels. For example, I love great F&B in hotels and considered them important for my stay experience but can hardly bothered be with Spa.

On that note, people often put it into two separate categories - city/urban hotels and resorts. Since comparing between categories can be tough, I think there's a third category: iconic/heritage/palace hotels.

I agree with @QPRfan, @Aventine, @chinmoylad and @BENLEE .
We should divide this into more categories, so here we go:
Category #1 : City Hotels
Category #2 : Rural Hotels
Categoty #3 : Hotter Places
Category #4 : Colder Places
Category #5 : isolated and unusual places
Category #6 : Iconic/Heritage/Palace Hotels

Thanks for your help guys!

Also, I want to add, there is no reason for someone not to respect someones opinions. I think we should all fell free to express which hotels we think are the best.

Exactly. What's best for me may not be best for you.

A better heading might be "top hotels" instead of best.

We should also have a category that is "Hotels that people think are luxury, but really aren't". Maybe we have to break those into City/Resort/Rural etc.

Westin? My friend, might you be off your meds today?

Is it just me or is this thread alarmingly similar to:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxur...ot-missed.html

As opppsed to "THE Hotel That Must Not Be Named," I suppose?

In the interests of consistency (see my response in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28680884-post203.html)...

City: Peninsula Shanghai, The Upper House, and St Regis San Francisco
Rural: Amanjiwo, Singita Boulders, and Amangiri
Hot/beach: Amankila and Cayo Espanto
Cold/skiing: Amangani
Unusual: Singita Boulders, La Residence, Cavas Wine Lodge
Heritage: Umaid Bhawan Palace
