New Luxury Resort in Madagascar - Miavana

Bumped into this interesting article in the FT - anyone has any more info?

This promises to be a game-changer for the African nation’s tourism industry — a super-luxury private island retreat that will allow it to rival the Seychelles and Maldives for the first time. Miavana, which will cater for a maximum of 44 guests, occupies Nosy Ankao, the largest of five islands in an archipelago off Madagascar’s north-east coast. Guests will arrive by helicopter and spend their time on “blue safaris” — snorkelling, scuba diving and turtle-, whale- and dolphin-watching — as well as enjoying the spa. The resort comes with a pedigree — the owners also created the celebrated North Island in the Seychelles — and a price tag to match. $2,500 per person per night, or $100,000 per night for exclusive use of the island;

Don't have FT access these days so can't get behind the paywall. Is that $2,500 AI similar to North Island? I imagine so considering the pp pricing structure.

No need to access paywall as I've pasted all the text in my original post.
Unfortunately it does not mention anything on AI, or much details at all for that manner.

I was told about this a few months ago, but there's not a whole lot there currently to get excited about, even if the people who were telling me about it seemed to think it will be the greatest thing ever - http://www.timeandtideafrica.com/miavana

I agree.
I wonder though if the beach is more similar to the Seychelles or the Mauritius, given geographical position.

Singita / Luke Bailes bought a big piece of Land in Mozambique which starts at the border to kruger (right where lebombo and sweni are). Further to that he has appearently bought Land at a Beach in Mozambique... Plans are there for a Beach Resort...

Thats the last info I have...

I heard this, too, but Luke bought the land quite a few years ago and nothing seems to be happening.

I'm new to this forum, but saw your post 0bsidian on Miavana. We are opening in December 2016. We've been working on conservation of the area and construction for the past 3-4 years. If there is anything else you want to know, happy to provide more details.
